Name and Brief Description of Business/Venture/Project:

Elon R. Musk is both an entrepreneur and intrapreneur, as shown by his plethora of business entities
and philanthropy projects. But his most significant venture yet is when he joined Tesla as both chairman
of the company and an overseer of the “Roadster” project during the first round of investments during
2004. Though he started as an investor and an overseer, he has now risen to the top of the company by
being the CEO of Tesla and its biggest shareholder. He has taken multiple risks and opportunities as the
leader and made Tesla the most valuable car company globally, beating Ford, Toyota, BMW, etc. And
thus, with his multiple ventures, he has become the richest man in the world.

PEC or Entrep Mind Attributes Manifested:

Opportunity-seeking
Commitment to work contract
Persuasion and networking

PEC/EMA 1: Opportunity-Seeking

Elon Musk is one of the greatest vision makers of the past few decades. He has made innovation after
innovation with his ventures and only is only getting more ambitious each time he succeeds. An example
would be when he co-founded “X.com” or PayPal as it is known today. He knew that electronic payment
without the interference of banks would be the future then. Now the electronic payment system is full
blown industry with multiple competitors such as G cash, Apple Pay, Pay Maya, and many more. But an
example in his current venture is Tesla. He is aiming to make electronic cars the future of automobiles
due its environment friendliness compared to gas cars though innovations in electronics within the car
and innovations with the battery by making it able to last almost as long as a gas car. According to
Loverude (2019), “Musk has been able to take advantage of his opportunities his whole life; from his
rough childhood to today. He has successfully turned his disadvantages into advantages.” And this is
evidenced since his childhood where he created a game that sold for 500$, and to today where he is
worth 185 billion dollars.

PEC/EMA 2: Commitment to work contract

During his early years as CEO in Tesla, Elon Musk already wanted to have self-driving cars for Tesla. Elon
Musk said that the vehicles are already “very close” to achieving the basic requirement of this ”level
five” autonomy. This autonomy requires no driver input. Although it hasn’t released it to the public but
he is trying his best for this autonomy to work properly in any public community. Musk said to BBC that
“there are many small problems and then there’s the challenge of solving all those small problems and
putting the whole system together.” He is sacrificing himself to work for this autonomy just to make his
promises true. With that, he has already released an early version of this self-driving by allowing a Tesla
car to be able to drive in highways and roads in the U.S. but still requiring some input from the driver in
order to ensure maximum safety. This is already a promising start to this promise as no other car
manufacturer has been able to reach this far in innovation as Elon Musk has.

PEC/EMA 3: Persuasion and Networking

Tesla has grown its IPO decades ago into one of the biggest producers of electric vehicles, cars, SUVs,
and trucks, globally under a leadership of Elon Musk, the CEO. His persuasion, networking and charisma
is almost second to none in business. He acts as the “down to earth” businessman by relating to the
people and taking feedback very seriously when there are obvious problems in the products he makes.
This is evidenced by his twitter account as he does not act as a robot promoting the company’s products,
but as a person sharing his new inventions or things, he found interesting while he was surfing the
internet. That, and he shares the thoughts of others that is a big problem in big companies. With the
company expanding its products to energy generation and storage systems. His ventures of energy
systems related technology, has helped in the battle climate change. According to Bill Gates in an
interview in CNBC News Television, “We need more Elon Musks.” He added “I think what Elon’s done
with Tesla is fantastic. It’s the best contribution to showing us that electric cars are part of how he solve
climate change.” Elon Musk has already persuaded a lot of people especially Bill Gates, because most of
his ventures are one of the factors that can battle climate change. With this venture, many
entrepreneurs can be influenced on this category to do business that battle climate change and many
investors would invest more to your company because they know that you can contribute to make the
world a better place again.

How these PECs/EMAs contributed to Entrepreneur 1's entrepreneurial success

Each attribute has contributed to his success in very unique ways. The most important factor when
starting or running a business is to have a dream, which Elon Musk shows in all of his projects. This
vision allows him to seek opportunities and grab them whenever he can, no matter the initial costs are
because he knows that that is the future and regret will only follow if he does not take full advantage of
it. He has shown this since childhood and this attribute keeps working for him. But he only takes these
opportunities because he knows he will be working very hard as provided by commitment to work
contracts. Working 100-hour work weeks was a cost he was willing to pay when taking these kinds of
opportunities. And whenever he is able to accomplish the goals he set, his persuasion only becomes
stronger and his networking reaches even further than before. He makes sure he can show his charisma
as it improves his reputation in integrity and vision making.

With that, each attribute helps each other in making him one of the best businessmen of all time.
Though he has a long way to go before finishing his final goal of reaching Mars, these attributes will be a
big player in not only helping himself finish that goal, but also others who share the same vision he does
in making the world a better place and exploring the final frontier.
