Journal Reflection

My First d week in TP: Today was my first day in Ain Jaloot school I noticed that the
class is like any class that I been to in my past year in teaching practice. The class have 8
class grades 3 and 4 and the subject is science each class have a high level and a low
level in the class I notice that the students in the class are very active and, they love
learning, and this has made me happy and excited to teach them. Today lesson was
science it was about. Light After the teacher teaches them the lesson the teacher gave
the class homework, so they can practice more and understand more the lesson. Some
students does not follow the teacher I observed  those students and understand why
they don’t lesson or why they can’t understand some of the things that the teacher teach
and try to learn how to do it in a different way also learn more how to connect with
them for example some students don’t like to lesson or read so I need to change that I
need to change the style of teaching and do other things to make them enjoy the lesson
and learn at the same time I need to plan my first lesson next week and  teach them in
many ways. Also, in this teaching practice my main goal is to learn more from my
teacher and from my past mistakes and try to not repeat this semester also to enjoy my
teaching practice even if I faced a lot of difficulties by teaching them online witch is my
first time to ever teaching online which is why I’m so nerves for this year teaching
practice because I’m not good with technology but I know I will manage like I always
did in the past and also by learning from my teacher and my colleges.

Second week in TP: Today’ the students studied Science the lesson was about the life
cycle of a cherry tree the teacher showed the students a video about the cherry tree and
how the tree grows also explaining each form that cherry tree have I learned a new
word today when the teacher was teaching the word called ‘’Germinates” witch is the
development of a plant from seed or spore after a period of dormancy. I enjoyed
watching the student’s interactions to the lesson I found it interesting to see them
curios about the phases of the cherry tree and I also find it so fascinating how talented
some of the students are so fast at learning and memorizing the words because I know
English is my second language and I find it hard sometimes to pronunciation some of
the letters but the students find it so easy and they are so flexible witch made me want
to push and work more harder on my English and be better at it. The students are very
smart, but I notice that my MST is having a problem to manage them because a lot of the
students are very noisy and all over the place witch made me think that I should do a
different strategy then my MST when I’m going to teach them just so I can manage them
while and also to let everyone learn and not be disturbed by each other.  I notice that
the books have changed and also the class are online now because of the coronavirus
witch I found it very challenging because I’m used to going to schools but I will try my
best to do what I can do and give it all and most important is to teach the students
better and learn more from my mentor. The second class I teached the students science
the lesson was about measuring matter I explained how do we measure mass? And how
are mass and weight different? I start the lesson by telling the students what the lesson
today that I will teach and then telling them new vocabulary then will explain how mass
and weight are different and what is gravity and what is weight and showing them
videos about the lesson and then asking them questions and then start working on
worksheets and the teacher will ask them to open page 342 and explaining the lesson
more and doing quizzes and worksheet to make sure they understand the lesson and by
the end of the lesson doing a Khoot quiz to make sure they understand and have fun at
the same time everything went smoothly I didn’t expect from them to be obedient the
only problem I faced during the lesson is the game quiz I had a technology problem so I

couldn’t manage to let them play so I sent them a worksheet so they can do and send the
result in the chat box and their results were good witch made me happy that they
understand the lesson even my MST were happy and impressed by me but she told me
to try to manage more my technology problem and to be more confident.

Third week of TP:

Today in science class they had the sound  lesson and how do sounds different and what
is a sonar ? She explain the characteristics of sounds to understand how echoes are used
in sonar she used for the lesson videos and links for quizzes and wordwall witch I didn’t
know about and wanted to try for my second teaching practice and she used the
textbook

She showed them video and then she explain it on the I loved how she made the
students excited about the lesson by letting the students trying to make sounds and
interacted with each other and she made sure to encourage the rest of the students try
by making sounds to and it helps the rest of the students to not feel shy and try it to and
it made me think that when I teach them I should make them exited and also having fun
while learning because science it can be a lot for students because it have a lot of
information so making the class fun made me want to do that to not only making them
understand the lesson also making them having fun while learning  after that she let the
students to open their book and start answering questions about the sound lesson she
also asked me to explain for some students that they didn’t understand by explain in
Arabic some of the questions and try to do it by themselves each students individually
and the teacher made sure to check each one of the students work by letting them share
it in the chat books and help the once that are having struggle with the lesson.  After the
class was finish I made sure to ask my MST if I could teach the next class and she said
yes, she asked me to teach the students Science and the lesson will be about the Solids,
Liquids and gases witch is very challenging to teach but I took it as a challenge so I can
see how I will manage to teach it even my teacher offered if I want to change the lesson I
can but I took the lesson and prepared myself for the next class. The second class I
teached my second class with both of my teachers my MST and MCT I was so nerves
because I didn’t want lose my control of the lesson and most importantly to be able to
teach the students and make them understand the lesson. The lesson was about Solids,
Liquids and gases I am working on: knowing the three forms of matters and knowing
the different between liquids and gases I started by telling the students what the lesson
today is teaching them the new vocabulary then will explain and discuss how the three
forms of matters and the difference between matter, solid, liquid, gas by explaining the
lesson and showing them videos about the lesson and then asking them questions and
then start working on worksheets and the teacher will ask them to open page 351 and
explaining the lesson more and doing quizzes and worksheet to make sure they
understand the lesson by giving them more activities to do and quizzes and games.
Everything was fine but later on my MST told me that I the objective should be. Students
will be able to explain how mass am measured, and 2. Gain better understanding of
what a pan balance is and my MST advised me to use appropriate punctuation marks to
avoid run-on sentences witch I will keep in my mind so I avoided making mistakes next
time and learn from it so it help me to develop my teaching.

Fourth week in TP:

Today was my third observation I tote the class science the lesson was about Landslides
and floods and it was a revision because they finished all the lessons I really enjoyed
teaching the lesson and it was very interesting to me to discuss with the students what
effects do landslides have on land? And what do earthquakes, volcanoes, landslides and
flood have in common and which event can be caused by rain? And Compare erosion
and weathering and what effect might planting trees have on the land? And how do
rocks and soil erode? How do weathering and erosion together change land I loved that
some of the students understand the lesson and they were answering all the questions I
explained the lesson using PowerPoint and a video but unfortunately video did not have
a sound but I manage to explain it and teach it for the students by using my own voice
and explain every part of the video after that I give them the activity witch was a
livework sheet and a quiz game I really felt very proud that everyone understood the
lesson and they were very excited well learning after that I let them open the science
book and answering with them some of the questions about the lesson by letting each
students raise their hand and answer the questions in the book after that I had to stop
because the time of the class was going to end so I made sure to
review with them the lesson by using a wordwall and asking them the question in the
wrodwall and let them choice witch one is the right answer after that I closed the lesson
by asking them if they understand the lesson they put happy face in the chat and if they
don’t they put a sad face and it made me happy that all of their response were positive
and it made me happy that they understand the lesson.

Week Five in TP

In this day, it was a normal day because there were no teaching and activities during the day
my MCT let me help her with the reviewing the lessons because they finished all the lessons
so I made sure to ask the students if they don’t understand and explain whenever they don’t
understand a lesson I made sure to put some games to help them remember some of the
lessons that they learned before just to help them refresh their memory’s after I finished my
teacher took over and let the student present projects about different type of science lesson
that they learned a lot of students presented different kind of presentation from the rest one of
the students his name is Saif  he presented a PowerPoint about the light and why is it
important and another student shared a poster made by himself his name is Omar it was about
earthquake and also explaining the poster to his class mate some of the students were very
noisy they distractive the class from listening to some of the presenters but the teacher
manage that by telling them that after the class they were going to have to leave early and
they will get a star if they behave will and it worked they stayed quite the whole lesson I
really thought it was very nice and interesting from the students that they presented their
work projects in a different way each and every one of them witch I thought lovely. After the
student presented the lesson the teacher give each student a star because they were listing will
and did their work and it also because its Thursday I thought it was very thoughtful from the
teacher that she wanted them to enjoy the day more because they will go latter to their parents
and enjoy the weekend with their family it was very kind from her to do that for them it made
me realize that being a teacher is not about teaching the lesson and making the students
understand only it also being nice and kind to them to be thoughtful just like a mother. Later
the teacher gives the students online work sheets so they can improve their understanding of

the water cycle because they have exams later so today the teacher spent more of her time to
let them practice more and reviewing more so they will be ready for the exams and most
importantly understand the lesson I also made sure to also give them a quiz game on word
wall so they can understand more the water cycle

Last day in online class

Today was the last day for me in the school it was very hard for me saying goodbye to the
students because I really loved them and enjoyed my time with them I was very happy and
sad at the same time all of the students wrote down how they feel they wrote how much they
will miss me and how much they want me back and how they love and care about me it’s
really made me very happy and also very proud of myself I thanked them and I also made
sure to thank my MST for guide me and give me the opportunity to learn and teach in the
class she also thanked me for my effort also for helping her she made me so happy and she
really tote me how to be a better teacher I learned a lot from her and it was a very interesting
journey and new for me I really learned a lot and also had fun teaching the school online it
was hard and challenging but we finally made it throw the obstacles
