I found my passion for art in middle school when I took an art class.

I found it so much
fun that I decided that would be my new hobby. My family got me a sketchbook and colored
pencils before my freshman year of college. In high school, I took quite a few art classes. I took
pottery as it was a tradition among my siblings to take it. In my junior and senior year, I took
drawing classes and had a blast with them! Currently, I’m a studio art major with a minor in
LGBTQ+ studies, taking classes and really trying to find myself, career wise and personally. I
hope by the end of my college career, I will figure what I want to do with my degree.

My strengths really play a role in my field of study. As an artist, you have to be

adaptable. You might find out that something you’re making isn’t going to plan. You have to
stop, step away and really figured out the problem. Sometimes, you have to redo the whole
artwork and it’s the day before the due date. Artists usually have to be intellectual and really
think deep to convey what you are making. Artists have to think of multiple ideas and do
sketches for them in order to find what they had in mind. Artists often try to maximize an idea
out to its full potential. Artists sometimes form a group to create a larger artwork. That means
including smaller artists who aren’t prevalent in the community.

Family, Love and Creativity are my top 3 values. While creativity is pretty obvious as me
being an artist, family and love are the opposite. Honestly, I just figured out how these two are
actually very prevalent in my work. I love creating characters. However, I can never create just
one. I always have to have at least a second one to go with them. I think that’s where family
comes in. I realize that I end up creating different types of families. I come from a big family. I
am the youngest of seven. So, it makes sense to me why I do this. My family has their ups and
downs and I love them neither the less. That’s where love comes into play. All these families do
love and care about each other, no matter how it is expressed. Yeah, they do have arguments and
hatred but sometimes they get over that and become stronger individually and together.
