Content: Safe and responsible use of ICT

Content Standard: demonstrates knowledge and skills in the safe and responsible use of
wikis, blogs, and audio and video conferencing tools

Performance standard: demonstrates knowledge and skills in the safe and responsible use
of wikis, blogs, and audio and video conferencing tools.

Learning competences:

1. posts and shares materials on wikis in a safe and responsible manner

2. posts and shares materials on blogs in a safe and responsible manner

3. participates in video and audio conferences in a safe and responsible manner

I. Objectives:

At the end of the 50 minutes period, the students should be able to:

a. explain the safe and responsible use of ICT;

b. cite an importance of being safe and responsible users in I.C.T; and

c. participates in video and audio conferences in a safe and responsible manner.

Our lesson for today is about the safe
and responsible use of ICT. Which the mean
focus, post and share materials on wikis and blogs
in safe and responsible manner. Are you now

3. Discussion
Let us first define what I.C.T. (Students are listening)
I.C.T. is Information and Communication
Technologies (ICTs) is a broader term for
Information Technology (IT), which refers to all
communication technologies, including the
internet, wireless networks, cell phones,
computers, software, middleware, video-
conferencing, social networking, and other media
applications and services enabling users to
access, retrieve, store, transmit, and manipulate
information in a digital form.

In which, I.C.T. is connected into
health & fitness, communication, business,
studying, researching, leisure and socializing.

So, in health and fitness, its

connection to I.C.T. can help improve patient
safety through the direct access to the medical
case story, checking the treatments online,
keeping track of the patients' progress and
anticipating possible medical errors. In general
terms, they are regarded as generally positive
tools among professionals and users. In which in
communication, we can easily contact our family,
friends and love one’s by the use of gadgets. In
business, ICT makes a business more efficient,
effective and promptly respond to customers'
needs. It can assist business activities including
design, manufacturing, R&D, distribution and sales
and feedback. Whereas in studying, we can surf
into any trusted cites to look something that
connect into our lessons, we can study in advance
and figure things out. Somewhat in researching,
we can look for many articles that connected into
our studies. And then in leisure and socializing, we
sometimes used YouTube for videos in our vacant
time, then, Facebook in socializing, making friends.

Wikis, Blogs, Videos and audio

conferencing are some of the most common
applications available via internet. Whereas
computers can create, store, and manage critical
information.
 What is Wiki?
WIKI- a website where anyone can
edit anything, anytime they want. A collaborative (Students are listening)
writing project. Most well-known site for wikis is:
www.wikipedia.com- an online encyclopedia.

Wiki History
The term wiki comes from the word
wikiwiki which means “quick” in Hawaiian. The first
wiki was created by Ward Cunningham in 1995, an
American computer programmer who developed
the first wiki.

WikiWikiWeb, Wiktionary, Wikiqoute, Wikibooks,
Wikiversity, Wikitravel, Wikispecies and Wikinews.

BLOG- also known as weblog, is a

personal online journal that contains short entries
written and updated by an individual called
BLOGGER. It is similar to a traditional journal or
diary entry where author can write and viewers can
comment. What you write in a blog goes in
Chronological order. A blog includes text, images,
hyperlinks of websites, and video, audio and other
files.

VIDEO AND AUDIO

CONFERENCING- also called as teleconferencing,
is an online meeting wherein two or more people
can see, hear, and talk to each other using
computer networks to send audio and video data in
real time.

What are the safe and responsible

manner in using the wiki and blog?
1. Be truthful in your content. Write
only what is based on facts and real-life
experience and not on fiction.
2. Avoid using words that are
offensive to people in general.
3. Do not attack personalities. Give
respect to people no matter what they do or say.
4. Plan the content of your wiki
carefully. Cite reliable and recognized sources if
you are to edit some parts of the content of
another writer or author.
5. Give credit where credit is due.
Cite those who acted as resource persons to your
wiki content.
6. Post pictures in your blog that is
safe and pleasant to look at by young and old
people.

Why we need to be safe and

responsible users in I.C.T? For us to be free from hackers ma’am and
our personal information will be safe too, then
using it with manner as a respect of everyone.
