Introduction:
Among Arabs, women were inferior to men. In use before Islam,
Women were considered property, were buried alive, had no rights,
etc. It was often a sign of class distinction only males could inherit,
women were treated very badly and inhumanly, their value was worse
than a slave. When Islam came it brings a great revaluation in Arab as
Islam raised the status of women without sacrificing their traditional
values. It defines woman’s role. It gave protection to women. It gave
women rights.
“Whenever the news of a female child is announced to
any one of them, his face darkens and he chokes with inward gloom”.
(Al-Nahl: 58)
Here we will discuss about their rights and role and also discuss the
feminism.

RIGHTS OF WOMEN:
1. Right To Get Education:
It is compulsory for every Muslim to get education in his/her life.

“It is compulsory on every Muslim to get education.” (Tabarani)

“Rasool Allah had fixed a separate day of the week to teach SAW the
Muslim women when he would advise them and teach them the
commands of the Shariah.” (Saheeh Bukhari)

2. EQUALITY OF REWARD FOR THEIR DEEDS:

Men and women are equally obliged to perform the
Ibadah i.e. bearing, praying, fasting, pilgrimage and get equally
reward for their deeds.
“Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds” Qur’an (74:38)

3. RIGHT TO OWN PROPERTY:

A Muslim woman had a right to own property from Inheritance, from
what is left by parents and those nearest related there is a share for
men and a share for women, whether the property be small or
large, a determinate share. In addition to she can buy property on
her own name as a legal person. She can possess property without
anybody’s interference. She has complete right on her property as
she can sale it, rent out it and can give it to anyone as a gift.

“For men there is a share from what their parents and close relatives
leave, and for women there is a share from what their parents
and close relatives leave, be it little or considerable; a definite
share.” (Surah Nisa’ 4:7.)

4. RIGHT TO MARRY:
Marriage is invalid without her consent. But guardian’s consent is
additional to this to protect her from mistakes due to her youth
and inexperience.
5. RIGHT TO OBTAIN DIVORCE:
The women have right to obtain divorced from her husband if they want
to separated. Or also have the right to have custody of their
children after divorce.

6. RIGHT TO EXPRESS THEIR OPINION:

Women have right to express their opinion and be heard in any of
situation either personal issue or social issues.
7. Rights of protection:
Rape is considered a serious sexual crime in Islam.
It can be defined in Islamic law as:
"Forcible illegal sexual intercourse by a man with a woman who
is not legally married to him, without her free will and consent"
We will have to protect our women from rape and sexual
harassment. Raped and sexual harassment both are different:
➢ In sexual harassment, the victims are physically harmed
which showcases male dominance.
➢ In rape, the victim’s are ravished like an animal for the
fulfillment of desire and lust of another.

Recommendations:
Through our observation we suggest that following measures could be
adopted to reduce increasing rape:
➢ Women and men, both are necessary in order to make a nation
developed, so women should be given equal opportunity.
➢ There is a great reward mentioned in the Hadith who take care of
their women.
➢ By reducing the communication gap between parents and their
wards.
➢ Parents must keep an eye on the doings of their wards.
➢ By improving the legal system of Pakistan and law should be strict
against the person who commits the rape.
➢ Girls should be trained for self-defense.
➢ Every religion protects woman, protecting woman is a religion.
Role of Women In Islam:
Now we will discuss the role of Muslim women in different areas of life
in a society which gave her by Almighty Allah. At a social level, Islam
recognizes the different roles that women have in society and makes
sure that women receive respect and devotion for their place in the
society. In Islam, women are great mothers, obedient daughters, caring
wives and equal sisters. We will discuss these roles of women in light of
some verses and hadiths.

1. Woman as a Mother:
Islam holds great respect for mother and endorses the followers
to respect their mothers. Islam recognizes the great role that
women play in the upbringing of the children and that the future
of mankind and of societies depends on mothers. The paradise
mentioned by the Holy Prophet (SAW) refers to both the social
paradise that can be achieved in Islam and the heavenly paradise.
“Paradise is at the feet of the mother.” (Hdith)
“Your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him and that
you be kind to parents. When one or both of them attain old age
in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor repel them
but address them in terms of honor.” (Quran, 17:23)

2. Woman as a wife:
The character of men in an Islamic society is established in
relation to their treatment of women. Islam is the first religion
that settled the rights of women as wives and associated the
element of giving respect to them. Husband and wife both have
the duty of caring and loving each other for a healthy relationship.
Also, women are the caretakers of men in the same way as men
are the caretakers of women. As Holy Prophet (PBUH)
memtioned:
“The most perfect in faith amongst believers is he who is best in
manners and kindest to his wife.” ( Hadith reported by Abu Dawood)

3. Woman as a daughter and sister:

Women as a daughter, her importance is such that the Holy
Prophet (SAW) tells “He who brings up his daughters well, and
makes no distinction between them and his sons, will be close to
me in Paradise.” Islam ensures that in both these roles sister and
daughter women enjoy absolute respect, care, and protection. In
Islam both male child and female child are equal and a parent is
as responsible for the education and upbringing of female
children as they are responsible for the male. It is respected in
Islam and brothers and sisters are to respect and treat each other
well. The Holy Prophet(PBUH) stated:
“When a boy is born, then he brings one Noor (light) and when a
girl is born, then she brings two Noors.”
Uqbah ibn Aamir narrated, I heard the Messenger of Allah (pbuh)
say:
“Whoever has three daughters and is patient towards them, and
feeds them, gives them to drink, and clothes them from his
wealth; they will be a shield for him from the Fire on the Day of
Resurrection.” (Authenticated by Al-Albani)

Holy Propphet(PBUH) said:

“Whenever you buy anything from the market place first present
it to your female children then to your male children.”
It is stated that:
“One who loves his daughters and withstands the hardship of
grooming and getting them married, Almighty Allah makes
Jannah compulsory (Waajib) on him and keeps him protected
from the Fire of Hell.”

Conclusion:
Muslim women should understand the rights and roles that Islam has
given to her and then in the light of those rights and roles, she must
perform all the social and Islamic roles with absolute dedication and
commitment. Islam is really the complete way of life and a divine
religion that is not lacking in any sense, let alone upholding women’s
right.

Feminism:
The feminist movement (also known as the women's movement,
women's liberation, or feminism) refers to a series of campaigns for
reforms on issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence,
maternity leave, equal pay, women's suffrage, sexual harassment, and
sexual violence, all of which fall under the label of feminism. The
movement's priorities vary among nations and communities and range
from opposition to female genital mutilation in one country to
opposition to the glass ceiling in another.
The movement began in the western world in the late 19th century and
has gone through three waves:
➢ First-wave feminism was oriented around the station of middle-
or upper-class white women and involved suffrage and political
equality.
➢ Second-wave feminism attempted to further combat social and
cultural inequalities.
➢ Third-wave feminism includes renewed campaigning for women's
greater influence in politics.

In accordance to Islam women can never get to do the role of a man

as men has its duties that he can bear while women are given the
according to their resistance. Like men are ask to go on jihad when
required (jihad-e-saif) and it cannot be performed by women.
It is stated that:
“Women are the twin halves of men”

Conclusion:
In our country we are in need of a women's movement, but we need a
pure Islamic movement and not a dark and gloomy European
movement.
