My passion of helping the Deaf and Hard of Hearing student success in their education
and in life motivates me. Education develop student’s knowledge and prepare them to become
responsible. It helps student create different perspective and become creative with their skills.
The philosophy of education has profession, teaching, instruction, and future to discuss.
Many years ago, in my elementary school, I failed to understand what was taught in
school due to my deafness. Transferring to the Deaf program in third grade helped me gain more
knowledge with the tools and resources provided. I was behind than all my peers, and my third-
grade teacher helped me with my educational needs all the way till fifth grade. To me, she was
my inspiration to helps others in need and understand the importance of education. She was and
will always be my first teacher who I respect. This is the reason why I choose this profession, to
I believe that all children have the right to learn and receive the education they need
especially special needs students. My goal is to work with the deaf and hard of hearing and
currently, I work with hearing preschool which is a different experience. Deaf and Hard of
Hearing need a deaf or an expert sign language teacher who can help them improve in their
communication skills, curriculum, etc. I have seen 3rd-5th graders lack their abilities and support
because they did not have someone who spoke their language. Its teacher’s job to make sure the
student comprehends, become prepare, understand their needs, and to accommodate for them.

building an institution for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing student is needed in Nevada. They may
be diverse, but they all have a culture that they share, the deaf culture. I will provide all the
appropriate support, promote social integration, and encourage all students to participate. Most
students are visual and will need to sit in front to use an interpreter, use closed caption when
watching a video, and have extra time for the test. Teacher will also need to provide a power-
My plan is to participate and volunteer in a deaf program to see how I can help a deaf or
hard-of hearing student and understand them better. There are three different way to
communicate with a deaf people, I use Pidgin Signed English(PSE), it combines English and
American Sign Language, my goal is to learn more American Sign Language to communicate
with students how to express themselves and communicate better for their needs in their
educational academic. Hopefully someday, a deaf institute is built in the future for the benefits of
In conclusion, I want to become and advocate for the deaf and hard of hearing students,
hopefully, I become the teacher that they need to success in their educational academic. My
experience of lacking communication and knowledge at age 9 was tough but a challenge I

learned to overcome it. I learned that you can only achieve if you have supporters and work hard
