The sugar glider is a marsupial, just like the many other Australian animals – the kangaroo, the koala

and
the wombat for instance. The sugar glider is a possum – very similar to the tupai in Indonesia. It basically
lives in trees. It eats leaves and fruit. However, the Australian sugar glider has a very special skill. It can
jump from tree to tree like a tupai but it can also `sort of fly’ as well. In fact, it glides or terbang layang in
Bahasa Indonesia. When it jumps from one tree to another it spreads its four legs out wide; and its extra
skin also spreads out and functions like a parachute.

An eclipse is an astronomical event that occurs when one celestial object moves into the shadow of
another. The term is most often used to describe either a solar eclipse, when the Moon's shadow
crosses the Earth's surface, or a lunar eclipse, when the Moon moves into the shadow of Earth.
Eclipses may occur when the Earth and Moon are aligned with the Sun, and the shadow of one body cast
by the Sun falls on the other. So at New Moon (or rather Dark Moon), when the Moon is in conjunction
with the Sun, the Moon may pass in front of the Sun as seen from a narrow region on the surface of the
Earth and cause a solar eclipse. At Full Moon, when the Moon is in opposition to the Sun, the Moon may
pass through the shadow of the Earth, and a lunar eclipse is visible from the night half of the Earth.

An eclipse does not happen at every New or Full Moon, because the plane of the orbit of the Moon
around the Earth is tilted with respect to the plane of the orbit of the Earth around the Sun, so as seen
from the Earth, when the Moon is nearest to the Sun (New Moon) or at largest distance (Full Moon), the
three bodies usually are not exactly on the same line.

4. When does lunar eclipse happen?

A. In the morning

B. In the afternoon

C. In the evening

D. In the midday

E. At night

5. What is the main idea of the third paragraph?

B. The Sun is the biggest planet in our solar system

C. An eclipse never happens at New or Full Moon

D. The Sun and the Moon rotate on the same line

E. The moon run around the earth

6. What will happen if the Moon's shadow crosses the Earth's surface? There will be ….

A. A lunar eclipse

B. Solar eclipse

C. New moon

D. Full moon

E. Oval moon

How do Seasons Happen?

Seasons come to us regularly. We have probably notice that it gets warmer in summer or dry season
while it get colder in the winter or wet season. However do we know how these seasons change?

Season happen and change every year. This happens because the Earth tits back and forth as it goes
around the Sun. During the summer, the Earth tits toward the sun. it makes half of the Earth hotter. This
condition is what we call summer. During the other half of the year, the Earth tilts away from the Sun. As
a result, it makes that half of the Earth cooler. This cool condition is then what we call winter.

The different parts of the world have the same season at different times. In the northern half of the
world, winter happens during the months of December, January, and Febuary. The regions are such
North America and Europe. In the other land, the southern half of the world have winter during the
months of June, July, and August. The regions are like South America and Australia. How does this
difference happen? The same season happens at different times because the top and bottom halves of
the Earth tilt away from the Sun at different times.

Human body is made up of countless millions of cells. Food is needed to built up new cells and replace
the worn out cells. However, the food that we take must be changed into substances that can be carried
in the blood to the places where they are needed. This process is called digestion.

The first digestive process takes place in the mouth. The food we eat is broken up into small pieces by
the action of teeth, mixed with saliva, a juice secreted by glands in the mouth. Saliva contains digestive
juice which moisten the food, so it can be swallowed easily.

From the mouth, food passes through the esophagus (the food passage) into the stomach. Here, the
food is mixed with the juices secreted by the cells in the stomach for several hours. Then the food enters
the small intestine. All the time the muscular walls of the intestine are squeezing, mixing and moving the
food onwards.

In a few hours, the food changes into acids. These are soon absorbed by the villi (microscopic branch
projections from the intestine walls) and passed into the bloodstream.

11. What is the text about?

A. The digestive system

B. The digestive juice

C. The method of the digestive system

D. The process of intestine work

E. The food substances

12. How can we swallow the food easily?

C. The food is directly swallowed through esophagus into the stomach.

D. The food is mixed with the juices secreted by the cells in the stomach.

E. The food we take must be changed into substances carried in the blood to the places.

13. From the text above, we imply that ….

A. a good process of digestive system will help our body becoming healthier.

B. no one concerned with the process of digestive system for their health.

C. the digestive system is needed if we are eating the food instantly.

D. every body must conduct the processes of digestive system well.

E. the better we digest the food we eat, the healthier we will be.

14. “Human body is made up of countless millions of cells.” (Paragraph 1) The phrase “made up” means
….

A. Produced

B. Managed

C. Arranged

D. Completed

E. Constructed

What is photosynthesis? Photosynthesis is a food-making process that occurs in green plants. It is the
chief function of leaves. The word photosynthesis means putting together with light. Green plants use
energy from light to combine carbon dioxide and water to make sugar and other chemical compounds.

How is the light used in photosynthesis? The light used in photosynthesis is absorbed by a green
pigment called chlorophyll. Each food-making cell in a plant leaf contains chlorophyll in small bodies
called chloroplasts. In chloroplast, light energy causes water drawn form the soil to split into hydrogen
and oxygen.
What are the steps of photosynthesis process? Let me tell you the process of photosynthesis, in a series
of complicated steps, the hydrogen combines with carbon dioxide from the air, forming a simple sugar.
Oxygen from the water molecules is given off in the process. From sugar together with nitrogen,
sulphur, and phosporus from the soil-green plants can make starch, fat, protein, vitamins, and other
complex compounds essential for life. Photosynthesis provides the chemical energy that is needed to
produced these compounds.

Biodiesel is a clean burning substitute for petroleum based diesel fuel. Biodiesel is made of vegetable oil.

To make or manufacture Biodiesel, you must first start with raw materials. The raw materials needed in
the production of Biodiesel are a small amount of methanol and a ready supply of vegetable product.
One of the most common vegetables used in the production of Biodiesel is corn, although depending on
the geographic location of the manufacturing facility many other plants are used as well (rapeseed,
soybeans, flaxseed, etc.). The first step is to use the raw vegetable product to make vegetable oil.
Vegetable oil by itself will not be what you need to power a car, from here it has to be processed into
Biodiesel.

The process for converting vegetable oil into Biodiesel is sometimes called ester interchange. To
complete this process the vegetable oil has to be combined with a smaller amount of methanol and then
put in the presence of a small quantity of an alkaline catalyst (for example, 5% to 1% sodium hydroxide).
Vegetable oil is made up of so-called triglycerides, which is a compound of the trivalent alcohol glycerin
with three fatty acids. The goal of ester interchange is to separate the glycerin molecule from the three
fatty acids and replace it with three methanol molecules. This process then yields roughly 90% Biodiesel
and 10% of a glycerin byproduct. The glycerin byproduct can be used in a number of other chemical
processes for different industries.
