706.7 CONTACT WITH INDIVIDUALS ON SUPERVISED PROBATION OR PAROLE
(a) DPS Officers operating in their official capacity, who encounter individuals under supervised State probation or parole, shall notify Adult Probation and Parole (AP&P) if there is reason to believe the individual has committed, or is in the act of committing, or is attempting to commit a crime or violated the established terms and conditions of their state ordered probation or parole. (b) Notification to AP&P should be attempted prior to releasing the probationer/parolee from the law enforcement contact. If an arrest is effected, notification to AP&P should be attempted prior to completion of the booking process. (c) DPS Officers shall complete the appropriate officer information or crime report detailing their interaction and observed violations with the parolee/probationer. Officers shall document their notification to AP&P to include when notification was made or attempted and who was notified of the contact. (d) If the DPS Officer is unable to notify a representative from AP&P, they shall promptly notify their immediate supervisor.
