Plastic pollution has become a severe global problem, as plastic production and waste have exponentially increased over the past 50 years. Plastic does not biodegrade in soil or oceans, instead breaking down into microplastics that are eaten by wildlife and enter the food chain. Indonesia dumps more plastic waste into the oceans than any other country except China, polluting coastlines, rivers, and oceans. The trillions of pieces of plastic floating in oceans entangle and kill hundreds of thousands of marine animals each year. Reducing plastic use and improving waste management infrastructure are crucial to solve this growing environmental crisis.

the Earth’s.

Plastic is a polymeric material—that is, a material whose molecules are very large, often resembling long
chains made up of a seemingly endless series of interconnected links.
1. Can’t be breakdown in soil.
2. Cheap, so every one can buy it, and throw it.
3. The biggest killer for animals. (Especially marine animals and birds)
4. Contain lots of chemical that can harm creatures.
For more than 50 years, global production and consumption of plastics have continued to rise. An
estimated 299 million tons of plastics were produced in 2013.
• Polluting lands, rivers, coasts, beaches, and oceans.
• The biggest cause of water pollution
• 267 different animal species suffered because of plastic pollution
• kills an estimated 100,000 marine mammals annually, as well as millions of birds and fishes.
• Plastic is the cause of worldwide pollution.
At the moment, Indonesia is second only to China when it comes to dumping plastic waste into the
world’s oceans.
 3.22 million metric tons of plastic waste is tossed annually into the ocean surrounding

• The crisis of plastic waste isn’t just limited to the ocean, but it has also affected Indonesian
rivers
• Four of Indonesia’s rivers rank among the top most polluted rivers in the world. (Brantas, Solo,
Serayu, Progo)
Every trash that throw by people, will end up on ocean, because of that plastic is the biggest threat for
our ocean. Threat a turtle, because plastic look like a jellyfish in water
• Plastic pellets look like a fish egg for a seabird
• It can remain in bottom of the sea for 400 years
• Webbing a marine mammal neck
• Pollute the sea water
• Trapped a small marine animals like fish
