PAVEMENT DESIGN–II: IRC method of rigid pavement design – Importance of joints in rigid pavements – Types of joints – Use of tie bars and dowel bars. UNIT-II (12 Lectures) HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE AND DRAINAGE: Highway construction – Construction of earth roads – Gravel roads – WBM roads – Bituminous roads – Cement concrete roads – Reinforced concrete pavements – Construction of joints in cement concrete pavements. Highway Maintenance – Failures of flexible and rigid pavements and their maintenance- Strengthening of existing pavements.
