Activity 1: Using a Catalyst

In this activity, you will:

(Define Catalyst)
1. prepare red meat (beef, chicken, duck, goat, liver, fish) and;
2. find out the reaction that takes place between H2O2 and red meat.

Materials:
 Red meat available in your homes like (beef, chicken, duck, goat, or liver of mentioned
meat)
 3% hydrogen peroxide (agua oxigenada)
 Medicine dropper
 Tweezer or food tong or fork
 Glass jar
Procedure:
1. Put 10 mL of 3 % hydrogen peroxide (agua oxigenada) in each of the test tubes or glass jar.
2. Drop a small piece of raw, red meat such as beef, chicken, duck meat, goat or liver in one of
the test tubes or glass jars.
3. Take note of your observations.
4. Remove the piece of meat from the test tube after 10 mins. Observe.

Questions:
1. What do you observe in the test tube with hydrogen peroxide (agua oxigenada)? How about
in the test tube that contains hydrogen peroxide (agua oxigenada) and raw red meat?
