1. BHATSA SCHEME

1.1 SALIENT FEATURES OF BHATSA SCHEME

Govt. of Maharashtra allotted the "Bhatsa Scheme" as a new source of water supply to
MCGM in 1967. The Irrigation Department of GoM constructed the Bhatsa Dam. However,
MCGM has shared about 77% of the total cost of construction of the dam. As such, a quantity of
1365 MLD of water is reserved for MCGM at royalty rates. Subsequently, additional quantity of
355 MLD in 1995, 300 MLD in 2006 & 100 MLD in 2009, has been allocated for MCGM at
normal rates. The total quantity of water allocated for MCGM from Bhatsa Dam is 2120 MLD.

Bhatsa River

Pise Weir

This Bhatsa Scheme mainly covers:

1. Construction of Bhatsa Dam by Govt. of Maharashtra.
2. Construction of Weir, Raw Water Pumping Station and
Pre-Chlorination Plant at Pise.
3. Construction of Treatment Plant at Panjrapur
4. Laying of water main between Pise and Panjrapur
5. Construction of Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) At Yewai
6. Laying of water mains from Pumping Station Panjrapur to MBR
