Peer pressure :
In present days, a growing number of adolescents have suffered from peer pressure. There are
numerous effects, both positive and negative, and positive resulting from this occurrence →
combine 2 sentences into 1: There is a growing concern on the impacts of peer pressure on
adolescents . SS1:On the one hand, being influenced by peers can produce a number of benefits.
Benefit 1: strengthen teenagers’ self-motivation. On observing others’ achievements, the young
have a propensity for making more effort→ + s to attain their goals, which contributes to success
in later stages of life. Moreover, it also results in the introduction to positive habits and interests,
namely eating healthy, reading,…, (take 2 eg, E1 and/or E2), thus developing a healthier
lifestyle.
SS2: too narrow. On the other hand, exposure to peer pressure may lead to distraction from
studying. Being compared with other friends, for instance in terms of fashion, hairstyle,… can
cause youngsters to dedicate more time and attention to overtaking their peers and therefore,
ignore the responsibilities at school. Furthermore, teenagers may unintentionally imitate negative
habits from peers such as: smoking, drinking alcohol, using illegal drugs,…, which is detrimental
to long-term development. Considering the above-mentioned illustrations, that peer pressure is
either beneficial or harmful is based on the way of handling it.
