Abstract
The International Diabetes Federation Organization (IDF) estimates that in 2019 there are at
least 463 million people aged 20-79 years in the world suffering from diabetes mellitus. One
of the risks of diabetes mellitus is lifestyle or daily behavior patterns of diabetes mellitus
patients in undergoing diet, medication and activities. Family support can help patients with
diabetes mellitus to comply with diet, medication and activities that have been determined
by health workers. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support
and adherence to medication, diet and activities of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients at UPT
Puskesmas Sumur, Pandeglang Regency in 2021. This study used a quantitative method with
a cross sectional design. Collecting data using a questionnaire. The number of samples taken
as many as 75 respondents and using random sampling technique. The results of the
analysis using the chi-square test obtained P Value = 0.000 for the relationship variable
between family support and medication adherence, P Value = 0.001 for the relationship
variable between family support and diet compliance, and P Value = 0.002 for the
relationship variable between family support and activity. The conclusion in this study is that
there is a significant influence between the relationship of family support to adherence to
medication, diet and activities of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. It is hoped that the
health service will create a group as a bridge of information and supervision for patients and
their families with diabetes mellitus.
