    My Dream For Papua Through The Sejutacita Future Leaders Scholarship

    My name is Putri Angel Victoria and I was born in Timika, Papua, July 3, 2003. I was born
    as the only child from a simple family. My father works as a labour and my mother has died
    when I was eight years old. I am currently live with my uncle and aunt. Back as a child, I
    experienced and noticed the different conditions in schools, especially when I was in Papua
    and when I moved to Kalimantan. I feel that facilities and learning are being left behind in
    Papua. There are still many who do not go to school and are illiterate, resulting in the large
    number of people who are less educated. Even though the government has paid special attention
    to them, this assistance is still not yet covered several remote areas in Papua. Therefore, it
    makes me ambitious to create an organization or volunteer to help Papuan children go to school
    and balance education in Indonesia.
    I believe Papua can be a developed region among other regions. I chose the SFL scholarship
    to help make my dreams come true. After graduating high school, I am planning to continue
    my studies at Harvard University majoring in International Relations. Studying at Harvard
    University, the world first rank top university, can help me learn to work with different cultures,
    people, and entities with different academic backgrounds. With the ideas that I can get, they
    can be used to develop the education system, especially in Papua.
    To become a qualified person, of course not only in academics but also in non-academics.
    For academics, I have always been in the top of my class. I managed to be in the first rank
    starting from elementary school SD 4 Guntung Manggis, junior high school SMP 1 Banjarbaru,
    and my current senior high school SMA 1 Banjarbaru, for all the consecutive years. I also
    received the first place in science competition in Banjarbaru city level. For non-academics, I
    achieved the first place in singing, choir, and acoustic band in school level. Moreover, I won
    the first place in drawing and second place in modelling competition in Timika City level, first
    place in theatre competition in South Kalimantan level, and participated in Batch 2 National
    Level Poetry contestant by the Creative Space Startup.
    The most remarkable experience that I had was when I became the South African delegation
    in the IMF at IGN Online Model United Nations from International Global Network. Through
    this, it makes me like to work hard, to be honest, and to appreciate opportunities. I have good
    skills in public speaking and capturing new information or insight from other people, speak
    English, and can adapt to any place.
    Besides that, I am also an entrepreneur. I have an online shop that sells all kinds of hype
    items and thrift clothes, so I have my own pocket money. In my spare time, I like to play
    various musical instruments, sing, and compose songs. Outside of school, I like to raise funds
    to donate to the Sahabat Yatim and Dhuafa Orphanage. Even though my experience is not so
    much, it doesn’t dampen my enthusiasm to add more experience in order to hone my skills and
    ways of thinking to become a strong human being.
    Finally, if I managed to get a Trip Scholarship to Harvard University and Massachusetts
    Institute of Technology held by SFL, it could help me see the point of view of a good teaching
    system and bright ideas that I never received in Indonesia, or especially in Papua. It will open
    up my career opportunities to be better and competent person. I realized that being an
    intellectual person before entering the social world requires a lot of experience. If I get a golden
    opportunity for a scholarship from Sejutacita Future Leaders (SFL) then, this is a great
    opportunity for my future and I am ready to support the Indonesian government in improving
    the quality to have an advanced education system.
