• A project is a temporary endeavour undertaken to create a unique product,
service, or result.

• The purpose of project management is to plan, organize and manage


resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project
goals, outcomes and outputs.

• The project manager is responsible for ensuring the overall success of the
project.
The Project Constraint Triangle
• Scope/Quality – What are the products/services that the project will
produce and what is the work required to produce these
deliverables?
• Cost/Resources – What money, materials and effort are available to
deliver the project product/services and to complete the
comprehensive work of the project?
• Time/Schedule – What is the amount of time required to complete
the components of the project?

• International Projects- These are projects that involve or are
implemented by two or more countries.
• Bilateral- Involving 2 countries Eng. DPWorld.
• Multi-lateral- Involving more than two countries Eng. EADB ( Easy
African Development Bank) belonging to Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
• Government projects- These are projects Initiated, Planned and
implemented by the government.

• Project management is the discipline of planning, organizing and managing


resources to bring about the successful delivery of specific project goals,
outcomes and outputs.

• The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the


project’s goals, outcomes and outputs, while honouring the preconceived
project constraints related to scope, budget, schedule and quality

• Program management is the process of managing a group of related


projects in a coordinated way to obtain benefits and control not
available through managing them individually.

• Programs, unlike projects, are often managed via centralized


management which aims to coordinate a group of projects to achieve
the program’s strategic objectives and benefits
