ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
1. FACULTY OF ARTS
i. All candidates must possess a minimum of five O’ Level Credit Passes which must
include Yoruba Language and English Language.
ii. All candidates must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Yoruba or Yoruba Education
provided all the core courses in Yoruba were offered and passed by such candidates with
at least a Second Class Lower Division from a recognized University.
iii. Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree in Yoruba Communication Arts of Lagos State
University or other recognized University.
iv. Candidates with Bachelor’s Degree in Yoruba combined with any of the following: IRS,
CRS, Philosophy, History & International Studies, Music, Theatre Arts or any other
course approved by the Departmental Postgraduate Committee.
v. Mastery of additional African Language(s) will be an advantage.
ii. Candidates must also satisfy the Ordinary Level admission requirements of the Lagos
State University.

M. Phil/Ph.D In Yorùbá Literature (Full Time & Part-Time)
Admission Requirements:
i. Candidates must possess a good Master’s degree in Yorùbá Language or Literature or
disciplines that are related to Yorùbá studies e.g. M.Ed, M.A. (CLA) or Yoruba
Language/Literature from Lagos State University or any recognised University by Senate
of Lagos State University, which includes coursework and research dissertation with a
CGPA not below 3.50
ii. Candidates must also satisfy the Ordinary Level admission requirements of the Lagos
State University.
DURATION
M. A. History and Diplomacy runs for Four (4) Semesters and maximum of six (6) semesters (the
final semester being fully devoted to writing the dissertation).

c. A Third Class Bachelor’s Degree from any University recognized by the Senate of the Lagos
State University with a Post-Graduate Diploma in International Relations and Strategic
Studies of the Lagos State University.
d. A Higher National Diploma [Lower Credit] or its equivalent with a Postgraduate Diploma in
International Relations and Strategic Studies of the Lagos State University.
e. Five Credit Passes including English at the ‘O’ Level as basic requirement.
C. Department of Religions
i. PGD Christian Religious Studies
An immersion programme for non-graduates of Religions to integrate them into studies for higher
degrees in Christian Religious Studies.
Duration: Minimum of two (2) semesters and maximum of four (4) semesters.

ii. M.A Christian Religious Studies
Holders of first Degree in Christian Studies with at least Second Class Lower Division from Lagos
State University or any other Universities recognized by the Senate.
Duration: Minimum of four (4) semesters and maximum of six (6) semesters.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters and maximum of ten (10) semesters.
Duration: Minimum of two (2) semesters and maximum of four (4) semesters.

vi. M.Phil./Ph.D Islamic Studies
a. Admission into the programme shall normally be given to candidates with M.A. Islamic Studies.
b. Candidates with Master’s Degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 of 5.0 point scale
c. All Candidates must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision
making on problem solving potentials.
M.Phil/Ph.D
i. Candidates who possess Master Degree in English Language or literature in English from a
recognized University which include Courses work and dissertation with CGPA not below 3.5.
ii. The candidates must possess at least five (5) credit passes at the ordinary level (G.C.E, WASC,
and NECO) including English and Mathematics.

Duration: The minimum period of a full time study of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree shall be for eight (8)
semesters. Initial two (2) Semesters for coursework leading to conversion to Ph.D. Students are
required to register every session to maintain their studentship.
Ph.D
i. Candidates must possess Master’s Degree in English Language or Literature in English from a
recognized University, with cumulative Grade point Average (CGPA) of 4.0.
ii. All candidates shall be subjected to a selected process.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters and maximum of ten (10) semesters.
v. M.Phil./Ph.D French
Candidates seeking admission into M.Phil/Ph.D French Programme must possess:
a. A Master’s Degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 of 5.0 point scale
b. However, candidates are required to satisfy all Departmental requirements in a qualifying
examination before admission.

The M.Phil/PhD programme is 2 semesters minimum and maximum of 4 semesters. Admission to
the programme shall be open to candidates with M.A. Music.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters and maximum of twelve (12) semesters.
Areas of Specialization:
Ph.D candidates for the Music programme shall specialize in one of the following areas:

DEPARTMENT OF PHILOSOPHY
M.A. Philosophy
Candidates for admission into the M. A. Philosophy should normally possess at least:
a. A good honours degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division (2.2) in Philosophy of
the Department of Philosophy, Lagos State University, or any Department of Philosophy of a
university in Nigeria or elsewhere in the world, recognized by the Senate of the university.
b. In exceptional circumstances, graduates of other disciplines may be considered for admission.
The department may recommend remedial courses in philosophy for such students where some
deficiencies are noticed.
c. Candidates must satisfy the O’ Level admission requirements as spelt out by the Postgraduate
School.
M.Phil./Ph.D.Philosophy
Ph.D. Philosophy
DURATION: The PhD degree programme shall run for a minimum of three academic sessions (6
semesters) and a maximum of five academic sessions (10 semesters) for full time candidates, and a
minimum of five academic sessions (10 semesters) and a maximum of eight academic sessions (16
semesters) for part time candidates.
2. FACULTY OF EDUCATION
A. Postgraduate Diploma in Education
a. Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree of Lagos State University or other Universities recognized
by the Senate.
b. Candidates with Higher National Diploma (not below Lower Credit) from recognized polytechnics
or equivalents.
c. All candidates must possess at least five (5) credits at the Ordinary Level (G.C.E, WASC, NECO)
at not more than two (2) sittings or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate in related subjects.
Duration: Minimum of 2 semesters and maximum of 4 semesters.

b. Postgraduate Diploma Degree in Education in addition to a First Degree in other disciplines, such
as Arts, Social Science and Sciences, from the Lagos State University and other similar

c. Third class honours in Education plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education at a credit level.
d. All candidates must possess at least five (5) credits at the Ordinary Level (G.C.E, WASC, NECO)

Candidates seeking admission into each of the programmes are required to possess
a. At least a Second Class Lower Division in Education of Lagos State University or any other

b. Holder of Postgraduate Diploma Degree in education in addition to a First Degree in other
disciplines, such as Arts, Social Science and Sciences, from the Lagos State University and
other similar institution recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.
c. Third class honours in Education plus Postgraduate Diploma in Education at a credit level.
d. All candidates must possess at least five (5) credits at the Ordinary Level (G.C.E, WASC, NECO)

Candidates seeking admission into each of the programmes are required to possess

disciplines, such as Arts, Social Science and Sciences, from the Lagos State University and

least merit in at least two other major subject areas and at least a second class lower,
B.A.E/B.Sc, Ed./B.Ed

ii. M.Phil/Ph.D Health Education
Candidates seeking admission into this programme are required to possess:
a. A. First Class Honours in Physical and health Education/Health Education of Lagos State
University for direct admission into Ph.D or
b. An M.Ed in Physical and Health Education/Health Education of Lagos State University
Physical and Health Education/Health Education/Health Education/Environmental
Health/Health promotion and other related fields from any other University recognized by
Senate of Lagos State University with a CGPA of 3.5 for admission into M.Phil/Ph.D or CGPA
of 4.0 for direct admission into Ph.D
c. At least five (5) credit passes in the Ordinary Level (G.C.E, WASC, NECO) including English at
not more than two [2] sittings.
Duration: Minimum of 6 semesters

vii. M.Ed Sports Management and Administration
Candidates seeking admission into this programme are required to possess
a. At least a Second Class Lower Division in Physical & Health Education/Health Education of
Lagos State University or any other Universities recognized by Senate of the Lagos State
University.
b. All candidates must possess at least five (5) credits at the Ordinary Level (G.C.E, WASC,
NECO) including English at not more than two (2) sittings.
Duration: Minimum of Three [3] semesters.

D.Ed programme is open to candidates having a M.EM, M.Ed, M.Phil, M.A and M.Sc degree in
specialized areas of Educational, Social and Management Sciences of this university or any other
recognized university.
Five ‘O’ level credits in English language and Mathematics at not more than two sittings.

ii. M.Phil/Ph.D Science Education
a. Candidates seeking admission into M.Phil/Ph.D programmes should possess a Master’s
Degree in Education of a University in relevant fields. HND with PGDE are not eligible for
admission into the Department.
b. Candidates should have a minimum of 3.50 and 4.00 CGPA for admission into M.Phil/Ph.D
and Ph.D respectively.
c. Admission into M.Phil/Ph.D shall be at the beginning of a semester when there is vacancy to
absorb the prospective candidate into the programmes.
d. M.Ed holders with HND/PGDE background are NOT eligible for admission into the
M.Phil/Ph.DProgramme of the Department.
Duration: Six (6) semesters as minimum.

c. Admission into M.Phil/Ph.D shall be at the beginning of a semester when there is vacancy to absorb
the prospective candidate into the programmes.

c. Holders of Third class Honours Degree in Science and Social sciences based courses plus
Postgraduate Diploma in Environmental Resource Management or Environmental Education.
d. Holders of relevant Higher National Diploma (HND), Upper Credit in Science and Social
Sciences based courses recognized by the Senate of the Lagos State University.
e. Holders of relevant National Diploma (HND, Lower Credit) plus Postgraduate Diploma in
Environmental Resource Management or Environmental Education.
Duration: Minimum of Four (4) Semesters
Duration: The Minimum period of a full time study of M.Phil/Ph.D Degree shall be for eight (8)

CITL, NIM, NIS, NIA, NIESV, NIOB, ATC, ATPL, NSE as approved by the Senate of Lagos

Admission into professional Master in Housing and Urban Development (MHUD) is opened to
graduates of Lagos State University or of other University recognized by
Senate that hold Postgraduate Diploma in Housing Development or possesses a minimum of Third
Class from any courses in Social Sciences, Administration, Environmental Design and Management,
Technology, Law, Sciences and Environmental Health. Limited number of candidates with long
standing experience in housing oriented establishments, but with recognized equivalent professional

vii. Ph.D
An applicant for the Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.D] of Law shall be a graduate of the Lagos State
University with a CGPA of not less than 4.0 points at the completion of the LL.M degree.
NOTE:
The LL.M degree of the Lagos State University will run for four [4] academic semester and shall be by
course-work and dissertation. Examinations shall be administered at the end of the course-work while
the dissertation shall be examined by a panel of examiners constituted for that purpose.

may be considered for admission based on such qualification.

and Allied disciplines provided that such candidate presents a PGD in relevant disciplines.

(18 units of compulsory courses, 12 unit of elective courses and 6 units of seminars) with a weighted
average score of not less than 60 percent. Also, the candidate(s) must sit for oral conversion examination

All candidates for the M.Phil/Ph.D. programme are required to undergo a selection process.
Ph.D. In Finance
Admission Requirements
The Ph.D. degree programme is open to candidates having M.Sc. in Banking & Finance,
Economics, Accounting, Finance, and Business Administration with a minimum CGPA of 4.0 of
the Lagos State University or any other approved University.
All candidates for the Ph.D. programme are required to undergo a selection process.
Department of Insurance:
The candidates for admission into the Master of Science in Risk Management and Insurance should
possess any of the following:
i. A good honours degree of Lagos State University or any other recognized University with at

C. Department of Biochemistry
i. Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial Biochemistry
i. An applicant for admission shall be:
a. A graduate of Lagos State University or other recognized University: i.e any First Degree from
the Lagos State University and other recognized institution in one of the Biological, Chemical and
Biochemical Sciences. (For example Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Chemistry, Microbiology,
Food Science,Biology, Botany and Food Technology).
b. A person who holds other qualifications approved by Senate, i.e the AIMLT or HND Upper
Credit from recognized polytechnics.
c. In exceptional circumstances, any other person whose educational qualifications and
competence for the course of study proposed has been approved by Senate.
Candidates shall be required to undergo a selection test.

than a Second Class Lower Division [or CGPA not below 2.50] of Lagos State University, OR
other Institution recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.
b. a Physics graduate [B.Sc of Lagos State University and other Universities recognized by Senate
of Lagos State University with a pass or third class degree, but that has successfully completed
the Postgraduate Diploma in Industrial [or Engineering] Physics with a CGPA of 3.50 and above.

Duration
The Master of Science Degree in Physics programme will run for ONE (1) Academic calendar, (two
semesters) in the case of full time participation whereas part time participation will be for TWO (2)
Academic Sessions (four semesters).
For the Master of Philosophy in Physics programme students are expected to a minimum spend ONE (1)
academic session and maximum of TWO (2) Academic Sessions (four semesters).
The Doctor of Philosophy in Physics programme shall run for a minimum of SIX (6) Semesters AND
maximum of TEN (10) Semesters.
Duration: The PGD programme in Computer Sciences on Full Time runs for a minimum of 2
semesters and maximum of 4 semesters. While PGD programme in Computer Sciences on Part-
Time runs for a minimum of four [4] semesters and maximum of eight [8] semesters.
Duration: The M.Sc. programme in Computer Science runs for a minimum of 3 semesters and maximum
of 6 semesters.
Note: Candidate with MSc in Computer Science with minimum CGPA of 3.5 in a scale of 5.0 and
thesis score not lower than 60% [B] will be considered for Mphil/Ph.D

i. Postgraduate Diploma in Mathematics
The programme is designed for candidates with weak First Degree in Mathematics, Statistics,
Engineering, Physics, Mathematics Education and other Mathematics based courses.

ii. M.Sc. Mathematics
A good bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering, Physics and
Computer Sciences or Postgraduate Diploma (with a minimum of 3.5).
Duration: M.Sc. and PGD run for a minimum of 18 months on full-time basis.
iii. Ph.D
M.Sc. in relevant field with a minimum of 4.0 GPA
Duration: The Ph.D programme is expected to last for a minimum of six semesters for full time
and staff candidates. Candidates shall renew registration at the beginning of every session
of studentship. To qualify for the award of Ph.D a candidate must:
i. Pass a minimum of 6 units and a minimum of 12 units, including all the compulsory
courses.
ii. Satisfy all the requirements of the Postgraduate School.

M.Sc. Microbiology
The Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Microbiology shall be on a full time basis and run for a minimum of four
(4) semesters and a maximum of five (5) semester.
a. Candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and
Physics subject at ‘O’ Level.
b. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from approved University must obtain a minimum of second
class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0 for an academic programme.
c. Candidates with at least a third class degree with University PGD on CGPA of 3.0/5.0 may be
considered for admission into academic Master’s degree programmes.
(Ph.D). Microbiology
TheDoctor of Philosophy programme (Ph.D) in Microbiology shall be on a full time. A full time Doctoral
programme shall run for a minimum of 6 semesters and maximum of 8 semesters
i. Candidates must have five credit passes including English, Mathematics and two other relevant
science subjects at ‘0’ Level
ii. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree from any other recognized University must obtain a minimum
of second class lower division with a minimum of second class lower division with a minimum
CGPA of 3.0/5.0

iv. Candidates who on account of merit due to satisfactory academic performance with minimum

A. Department of Economics

C. Department of Sociology
i. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work
Admission requirement includes any of the followings:
a. A first degree from any recognized University with minimum of Third Class Degree
b. Certificate in Registered Nurses, Mid-Wives and other Para-medical personnel who also hold
Post Basic Qualification
c. Professionals in other relevant disciplines as approved by the University Senate.
d. Holders of the Higher National Diploma or its equivalent.
e. Higher Degree in any discipline relevant to social work profession.
f. Five Credits in ordinary level certificate, WASC, SSCE, NECO etc. with at least a pass in

ii. Master in Social Work
a. Graduates of Lagos State University and holders of a Degree recognized by the Senate of Lagos
State University not less than Second Class Lower in the following disciplines: Sociology, Law,
Social Work, Psychology, Nursing, Community/Public Health, Medicine or any other relevant
fields of study.
b. Postgraduate Diploma in Social Work.
c. Five Credits in ordinary level certificate, WASC, SSCE, NECO etc. with at least a pass in
Mathematics.
Duration: Minimum of 3 semesters and maximum of 5 semesters.
iv M.Phil/Ph.D Sociology
A. Candidates can apply for the M.Phil/Ph.D Degree if he/she fulfills any of the following conditions:
a. A weighted average of 55% to 59% obtained from the M.Sc. (Sociology) Degree of Lagos State
University.
b. A weighted average of 60% and above obtained from M.Sc. (Sociology) Degree from any other
Universities recognized by the Senate of Lagos State University.
Duration: Minimum of 2 semesters and maximum of 4 semesters.

Science including credit pass in Mathematics and English Language at the 0/level.
b. Candidates with M.Sc. Political Science with CGPA weighted average not less than 4.0 is
required for Ph.D and not less than 3.50 is required for M.Phil/Ph.D, apart from other pre-
requisites spelt out in the University regulations for postgraduate studies.
c. A brief satisfactory statement of research in the intended area of research and an oral Ph.D
qualification examination by a multi-disciplinary panel constituted by the Department.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters.
iii. Ph.D
Application for the admission to Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.D] in Political Science must possess a
Master of Science [M.Sc.] in Political Science with CGPA weighted average not less than 4.0,
apart from other pre-requites spelt out in the University regulations for postgraduate studies.
Also admission requirements include a brief satisfactory statement of research in the intended
area of research and an oral Ph.D qualification examination by a multi-disciplinary panel
constituted by the department.
D. Department of Psychology.

M.Phil./Ph.D Psychology
a. Admission to the M.Phil./Ph.D conversion programme is open to graduates of Lagos State
University or of other approved Universities, who have attained a specified level of performance
in the M.Sc. Psychology Degree Programme. The candidate must have had a weighted average
Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA] not less than 3.5 to 3.99 will be required to commence
on M.Phi. programme. The student will also be required to take at least 12 course units from the
800/900 level courses as may be directed by the department.
b. For the M.Phil/Ph.D candidates, the minimum duration for these programme shall be two
semesters after the registration and a maximum duration of four semester.
c. Students for M.Phil/Ph.D conversion programme shall undertake a conversion examination and
must obtain a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA] not lower than 3.5 and
above in the 12 units courses and an oral examination of proposed research work.
Ph.D Psychology
1. Candidates for admission to the programme shall be:
a. Those initially registered for the M.Sc. or M.Phi./Ph.D conversion programme of the
department and have obtained a total weighted Cumulative Grade Point Average [CGPA]
not lower than 4.0 in the course examinations and project at the Lagos State University.
OR
b. Candidates who possess the Master of Philosophy [M.Phil] degree in psychology of an
approved University recognized by Senate. Candidates admitted to the programme will
be required, on the recommendation of the Department, to take certain courses at the
800/900 levels up to a maximum of 12 units from the candidate’s area of specialization.
2. Candidates are required to defend their research proposals before an examination panel as may
be recommended by the department and give departmental seminars on their Ph.D research.
Duration: Minimum of six (6) semesters and maximum of ten (10) semesters.
In addition to satisfying the Postgraduate admission requirements, the Department requires that:
i. Candidates for admission should normally possess any of the following background and
experience; Military, Para-military, security/Intelligence, Legal and /or Judiciary;
ii. Candidates for admission should normally possess at least a minimum of second class lower
Honours Degree in Psychology/ a minimum of Upper credit from approved Polytechnic from any
other discipline;
iii. All candidates for admission must sit for an entrance written and / or oral examination and pass
such at determined grade as the Department may prescribe from time to time.
iv. Candidates with Higher National Diploma degree [or their equivalents within the Military/Security
educational structures] of not less than Upper Credit in any discipline are also eligible.
v. Candidates from Military, Para-military, Security/Intelligence communities whose ranks are below
that of a Major/Superintendent in the Military/Paramilitary [or its equivalent in the other Security
Organizations a NOT eligible.
vi. Non-Military/Security/Intelligence personnel are also eligible but shall NOT be more than thirty
percent [30%] of the admitted students. Post qualifications[s] experience, exposure and position
in the place of work are very important.
vii. Years of experience of candidates are of utmost important. Hence candidates who are highly
experienced by the educational qualification formally recognized within the
Military/Security/Judicial sectors may also be admitted. Candidates with the above qualifications
must have worked for not less than fifteen [15] years and should not carry a rank below a Major in
the Army or its equivalent in other Paramilitary Organizations,
viii. The decision of the Admissions Select Committee [ASC] of the Department of Psychology, Lagos
State University in respect of any candidate who applied for the M.Sc. CSL Psychology shall be

deemed final. Decisions of the ASC shall be communicated by the Head Department of
Psychology to the Dean Postgraduate School, LASU.
Duration:
i. For MPhil/Ph.D candidates, the programme shall normally last for not less than two semesters
from the date of first registration in the case of full-time registration and four semesters in the
case of part-time registration

ii. A period of study and research originally approved for the MPhil/Ph.D may, following the
MPhil/Ph.D assessment and conversion be accepted as part of the period of study required for
the PhD degree.
Duration:
The programme shall normally last between four and eight semesters from the date of first registration as
a full time candidate. The programme shall last not less than eight semesters for part-time registration.
Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission into the Master in Logistics and Supply Chain Management programme, the
candidate must possess or meet a combination of the following:
i. First degree holder of Lagos State University and holder of any other Degree recognized by the
Senate of Lagos State University not lower than Second Class lower.
ii. First degree of Lagos State University and holder of any other Degree recognized by the Senate
of Lagos State University with third class plus Postgraduate Diploma Certificate [CGPA ] and
membership of professional bodies such as CILT, CIOTA, PMI, CIPS, CIPSMN etc.
iii. Holder of Higher National Diploma (HND) with minimum of lower credit plus professional
qualification from CILT, CIOTA, PMI, CIPS, CIPSMN etc. and a working experience of not less
than two years.
iv. Holder of Higher National Diploma with minimum of Lower Credit plus Postgraduate Diploma
Certificate [CGPA ] in any field with two years working experience.
v. Holder of a recognized full professional qualification such as CILT, CIOTA, PMI, CIPS, CIPSMN
etc. and a working experience of not less than five years.
vi. Five O Level credits, including English language and Mathematics, in not more than two sittings.

11. LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION (LASUSOC)
Applicants with first Degree not lower than 2nd class lower in any field of studies from an approved
university.
Applicant with a 3rdclass or Pass degree in communication and related disciplines
Higher national diploma with a minimum of Upper Credit. However, holders of HND are not eligible for
M.Sc. admission after PGD.
Five credits O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English or credit in
Literature-in-English in lieu of credit in mathematics for graduates in the Arts and Humanities and credit in
Physics or Chemistry in lieu of credit in Literature in English for graduates in the Sciences.
A good first degree not below Third Class or Pass with two years working experience in Communication
related industries.
Higher National Diploma not below Lower Credit with at least three (3) years cognate experience
Candidates with any of the following professions qualifications (APCON, NIPR, CAM, NIMARK,
DIPLOMA, etc.)
Five credits in O’ level including English Language (Credit in MATHEMATICS IS NOT REQUIRED, for
admission into MCS Programme)
A good first degree not below second class lower in mass communication or related discipline from any
approved university.
Post graduate diploma of this school or any approved communication institute with a cumulative grade
point average of not below 3.0 (50%) provided the candidate possess a University First degree.
Five credits O’ level including English Language, Mathematics, and Literature in English for BSc Mass
Communication graduates, or credit in Literature-in-English and a pass in mathematics for B.A
Communication graduates and credit in Physics or Chemistry in lieu of credit in Literature in English for
graduates in the Sciences.
Candidate seeking admission for the MPhil/PhD must hold a Master’s degree (Communication Studies)
with not less than 3.5 points on a 5 point scale or from another University recognised by LASU with a
master’s degree with not less than 3.5 point on a 5 point scale.
Such a candidate when admitted shall take prescribed courses to be converted to the Ph.D programme
and must pass with a minimum of 4 points on a 5 point scale.

African Postgraduate Medical College or similar bodies recognized by LASU Senate)
b. Candidates in other related courses recognized by the Lagos State University Senate may
be required to satisfy the Departmental selection process.

C. Department of Medical Biochemistry
i. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
To be eligible for admission, candidates must be holders of
