Introduction
The journey of Apollo Tyres Ltd started in 1972 as a single
brand enterprise. The company’s first plant became
operational at Perambra, Thrissur, Kerala.
With a corporate office in Gurugram (Gurgaon) they have
3 manufacturing units inside the country one each in
Tamil Nadu, Gujarat & Kerala
The company also has three manufacturing units overseas
one each in the Netherlands, South Africa & Zimbabwe

With over 16,000 employees and over $ 2 billion in


revenue, the company has a presence in over 100
countries worldwide. Moreover, their products are being
exported to about 118 countries.
The company already ranked 17th largest tyre manufacturer in the world.
The 2nd largest tyre manufacturer in India.
The company generates 69% of its revenues from India, 26% from Europe and
5% from other countries.
Apollo announced its entry into the two-wheeler tyre segment with contract
manufacturing in March 2016.

•Established 7 Manufacturing Plants (India:5 Europe:2) to
cater to the growing demand of tyre segment.

•2 R&D Centres (Asia/Europe) and 1 satellite center helped


the company to come with cutting-edge solutions to
manufacture efficient tyres.

•Increasing footprint in Rural India from 1230 sub-dealers in


FY19 to 6200 in Q1 FY22 helped to increase its order book by
almost 60% despite the outbreak.

•Diverse Portfolio in terms of tyre segments helped the


company to target a diverse auto markets.
- Its turnaround may be attributed to several factors, not least its focus on customer needs,
including a study of load, mileage requirements, and safe driving habits.

- It has several firsts to its name including, packaging, establishing customer loyalty
programmes.

- It has also launched an e-commerce site to allow the purchase of car and two-wheeler tyres
online that has added to consumer convenience.
Future Plans
•Revenue target of $5bn, keeping EBITDA above 15% and ROCE between
12%-15%.
•Focus more on the Compact SUVs market in India.

•Tap into the Global market to mitigate the impact of 2nd wave Covid in
India.

•Taking advantage of Anti-Dumping measures by the EU against Chinese


imports.

•Focusing on Increasing India’s Export basket from 10% to 20% to capture


nearby markets of the country.
Sustainability and Social
Responsibility
•In Europe, company started Stadsbeek project, which aims to solve the existing
problems of storage and drainage of rainwater and groundwater, as a result of climate
change issues, to improve the habitability of the area

•In India, the company launched Amazer XP tyre, which is made from recycled material
and has low rolling resistance which reduces fuel consumption,hence good for the
environment.

•One of the Company’s initiative, Navya—livelihood initiative for underprivileged women


—won the Best Organisation supporting Women 360 degree Award for its committed
work with the communities.

•Investing in its practices to align with ISO 26000 to achieve its CSR goals.
