FUNCTIONS, NATURE AND PROCESS OF COMMUNICATION

Introduction
In Oral communication module 1 we have tackled the nature and process of communication also
the functions of communication, the way they are used and what exactly are they.

Discussion
Communication comes in various forms, when you exchange ideas with someone or you send
information to others. Communication is a message understood and a social interaction through
messages. Communication process refers to a series of actions or steps taken in order to successfully
communicate. It involves several components such as the sender of the communication, the actual
message being sent, the encoding of the message, the receiver and the decoding of the message.
Functions of communication in an organization are to inform, persuade, and motivate. Informing
provides data and information to employees so that they can make educated decisions.

Conclusion
Through deep understanding about this module I have learned that the importance of
communication in our daily life also the process of communication and its nature this help answer why
we communicate and how we communicate to others.
COMMUNICATION MODELS

Introduction
In Oral communication module 2 we have tackled the Models of Communication Process and
understanding the basic elements of communication, in order to see how the elements operate and
interact as communication progresses.

Discussion
Linear communication is one-way, focusing on the transmission of a message to a receiver who
never responds or has no way of responding to the information conveyed, Interactive approach is a two-
way communication process where a response is given after a message is sent and the transactional
model shows a circular process of interaction between the persons involved in the communication, with
each one actively participating and sharing ideas with one another. The Communication models are
Aristotelian model, Laswell’s models, Shannon and Weaver’s models, Schramm’s and Wood’s model and
Berlo’s model.

Through deep understanding about this module I have learned Communication has many
definitions and concepts. Thus, the following communication models attempt to describe the process of
communication and how it functions. In this way, it helps people develop an effective communication
style and techniques for effective communication.
STRATEGIES TO AVOID COMMUNICATION BREAKDOWN

Introduction

In Oral communication module 3 we have tackled the strategies to avoid communication


breakdown and identifying the obstacle or problem that people come across that makes the
communication process ineffective.

Introduction

There are possibilities that even great feelings, wonderful ideas and understanding behavior are
wasted because the message was distorted along the way. Constantly, many people struggle to be
understood and unless the underlying causes of miscommunication are properly identified and
addressed one can be seriously entangled with lot of confusion.

Barriers of communication are inevitable. Nonetheless, there are many ways to be able to
bridge the gap by considering the following ways to effectively communication. If we follow the
transaction, a smooth and efficient communication transaction will result. To stop contact failure
