Initial Setup

−Battery Setup

1. Engine Electrical System is 12 volt D.C. Negative Ground

2. Engine Battery Should be 650CCA or Greater

3. Connect positive (+) red wire to positive

(+) terminal on battery

4. Connect negative (-) black wire to

negative (-) terminal on battery.

−Engine Placement

1. Place engine in an open air environment with adequate

ventilation. Combustion engines give off harmful gases
that can endanger your health if inhaled.

WARNING: Do not start in an unventilated or closed area.

Operation Instructions

−Check Fluid Levels

1. Engine oil should read near the full mark on the dipstick
and/or engine oil sight gauge

2. Radiator fluid should be visible near top of radiator inlet

when engine is cold.

WARNING: Radiator fluid can be hot – do not check fluid

level until engine has had time to cool down.

-3-
−Starting your engine

1. Disengage clutch (if equipped). Push lever towards

engine to disengage. If engine clutch is disengaged
clutch shaft will turn freely.

WARNING: Starting motor with clutch engaged or loaded will

put unnecessary internal stress on your starter and engine.

2. Set Switch to “start” (if equipped) with a governor you will

use the installed speed control system.

3. Start engine hold red push button down to engage

ignition relay, while pushing the start button to crank
engine.

4. Set toggle switch to “run” (if equipped) this will allow

motor to run at full speed (1700-2650rpm)

Do not make adjustments to governor in idle. Make all

adjustments with toggle switch set to “run” (if equipped),
this supplies power to the governor.

−Knowing your gauges

1. Oil Pressure Gauge

- Important: You should read oil pressure gauge and
check oil levels often. Oil pressure should be greater
than 20 PSI.

2. DC Volt/Ampmeter Gauge
- Should read 2 amps or greater depending on
battery requirement.

3. Coolant Temperature Gauge

- Should read no greater than 220 deg. F.

4. Manifold Vacuum Gauge(load factor)

- Engine life is extended if Vacuum Gauge
reading is greater than 3 in. Hg.

Maintenance Instructions

−Engine Oil
SAE Viscosity 5W-30 or 10W-30 Meeting GM6094M
No Synthetic or Diesel Motor oils can be used. The
mixture between natural gas and synthetic motor oil will
create a chemical reaction that may damage your engine
Notice: Use only Engine Oil identified as meeting GM
Standard GM6094M SAE Viscosity 5W-30 or 10W-30
and showing the American Petroleum Institute Certified for
Gasoline Engines Starburst Symbol. Failure to use the
recommended oil may result in Engine damage not covered
by warranty. Minimum Zinc Content of 300ppm and Ash
Content of 0.5 - 0.8% is required.

−Engine Coolant
Engine Coolant must be a 50-50 mixture of
Dexcool Coolant (Orange) and Clean, Mineral Free Water
See table on pg. 7

−Fuel Types
Engines use Natural Gas or LPG/Propane

−Service Intervals
``
Engine Oil & Filter
- Change every 150 hours OR (every 7 days of
continuous operation). See table on pg. 7 for oil
filter type. Recommended Viscosity 5W-30 or 10W-30

Air Filter
- Change as needed or once a year.
See table on pg. 7 for air filter type per engine model

(PTO) Power Take Off “clutch”

- See (PTO) owners manual

Spark plugs/wires
- As needed or once a year. See table on pg. 7 for
engine model plugs and wire specifications.

Storage Recommendations

1 to 4 month Storage Period

−If storing for 1 to 4 months do the following:

1. Protect inlets from water. (Exhaust, Air Inlet, etc.)

2. Fill radiator and fuel tank if equipped to full. This will help
prevent internal tank damage. (rust, condensation, etc…)

3. Protect from harsh environments (store covered or indoors)

Periods greater than 4 months

−If storing for periods greater than 4 months add the following
procedures in addition to above steps:

1. Disconnect both battery terminals

2. Change engine oil/filter and clean engine surface

3. When removing from storage engine oil and filter will need to
be changed prior to placing in service.
