Essay about The Pandemic and Its

Impact on society.
By Rheilord Andrei Dublin

People today have been affected by the pandemic caused by the spreading virus called ‘’COVID-19’’
Which has affected many people’s life not only its health but also people lifestyle, work, system and also
Education. The impact of the pandemic and its consequences are felt differently on our status as well
member of the society. While others try to adapt to work at home, educating their students at home,
online shops and ordering food via online, others have no choice but to be exposed to the virus while
keeping society functioning. Our different social identities and social groups we belong to determine our
Inclusion within society and, by extension, our vulnerability to epidemics.
Wearing of face mask, faces shield are now required in order to prevent the number of cases from
adding up, disinfectants are also added to ensure safety and personal hygiene for reducing the
probability in getting the virus. Enhanced security protocols have been added to reduce the number of
people outside, unnecessary tourist spots, shops have been closed to avoid crowding of people, social
distancing and front-liners who are at the legal age are only allowed to work outside.

The virus is killing people on a large scale. As of September 13, 2021, more than 35,471 deaths
estimated and 2.248M cases has tested positive in the Philippines. At least 2,032,471 has been
recovered from the Covid-19 virus.

According to the world health organization’s report Closing the gap in a generation: Health Equity
through action on the Social Determinants of health, ‘’poor and unequal living conditions that together
fashion the way societies are organized-poor social policies unfair economic arrangements and bad
politics.’’ This toxic combination of factors as they play out, is disproportionately affecting the filipino
communities in the Philippines. As well the pandemic continues to change the economical system and
its society, it also tends to affect the mental health of people and growing toxicity, protest regarding the
pandemic, false news reports which is also been a major part of the pandemic.

Employing a human rights lens in this analysis helps us translate needs and social problems into rights,
focusing our attention on the broader sociopolitical structural context as the cause of the social
problems. Human rights highlight the inherent dignity and worth of all people, who are the primary
rights-holders. Governments (and other social actors, such as cooperations) are the duty bearers, and as
such have the obligation to respect, protect, and fulfill human rights. Human rights cannot be separated
from the societal contexts in which they are recognized, claimed, enforced, and fulfilled. Specifically,
social rights, which conclude to right right to health, can become important tools for advancing people’s
citizenship and enhancing their ability to participate as active members of society.Such as understanding
of social rights calls our attention to the concept of equality, which requires that we place a greater
emphasis on ‘’solidarity’’ and the ‘’collective.’’ Furthermore, in order to fulfill social integration, social
policies need to reflect a commitment to respect and protect the most vulnerable individuals and to
create the conditions for the fulfillment of economic and social rights for all.

Therefore the pandemic has been a big change to our society not only to the government but also the
members of the society continues to struggle, education, work, mental health, human rights are all been
affected by the pandemic as the virus continues to arise problems only leads to conflict rather than to be
solved, there will be no cure if no one tends to agree with each other.
