PAGADIAN CITY GRACE PRIMITIVE BAPTIST CHURCH

ARTICLES OF FAITH

1. We believe that there is only One True and Living God who is Eternal,
Almighty, Unchangeable, of Infinite Wisdom, Power, Justice, Holiness,
Goodness, Mercy and Truth; who is spoken of in the Scriptures as the
Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit and these Three are One.
(Deut. 4:35; Jer. 10:10; Ps. 90:2; Dan. 4:35; Mal. 3:6; Ps. 147:5; Jer.
32:17; Job 37:23; Isa. 6:3; Exod. 34:6; Ps. 116:5; 1 John 5:7)

2. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and the New Testaments are the
revealed and inspired word of God and the only infallible rule of faith and
practice.

We consider the 1611 King James Version as the best English version and
prefer it over all other translations.
(2 Tim. 3:16; 2 Pet. 1: 19-21; Rom. 15:4; Psa. 19:7, 8; John 5:39, Psa.
12:6-7; Prov. 30: 5, 6; Rev. 22:18, 19)

3. We believe God created man upright and perfect, able to stand and keep
the law but liable to fall; and that Adam fell from the state of moral
uprightness and brought himself and all his natural offspring under just
condemnation and death; and for that original transgression, we are both
guilty in the sight of God.

We believe that man, being totally depraved; have neither will nor ability
to deliver himself from his fallen state.
(Ecc. 7:29; Gen. 2:16-17; Gen. 3:12-13; Rom. 5:12; Rom. 3:23; Eph.
2:1; Rom. 3:10-18; Job 14:4; John 6:44; Rom. 8:7-8; 2 Cor. 2:14)

4. We believe God unconditionally elected a definite number of persons of

the fallen posterity of Adam in Christ and ordained them to eternal life
and glory before the foundation of the world.
(Rom. 9:11; Rom.8:29; 1 Pet. 1:2; Titus 1:1-2; Eph. 1:4-5)

5. We believe Jesus Christ suffered and died in the room and stead for His
elect, and only His elect are justified in the sight of God by the imputed
righteousness of Christ.
(2 Cor. 5:21; John 10:11; Rom. 3:24-25; Rom. 5:9; 1 Cor. 1:30; Heb.
9:12-15; 2 Cor. 5:21)
6. We believe in the Sovereign, Direct, Immediate and ever Effectual work
of the Holy Spirit in calling, regenerating and sanctifying the elect of God
at His appointed way and time.
(2 Tim. 1:9; John 3:8; Eph. 2:1; John 5:25; Ps. 110:3)

7. We believe that all the elect shall be preserved in grace by the power of
God and that none of them shall fall finally away.
(John 10:29; Rom. 8:30, 37-39; Phil.1:6; John 6:37,39; 1 Peter 1:5)

8. We believe that Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are Ordinances of the
Church established by Jesus Christ which are to be perpetually observed
until His Second Coming and to be administered only by those who are
clothed with authority of the church, having been regularly ordained.

We believe that true believers are the only proper subjects and
immersion in water is the only proper mode and that none except those
who have been regularly baptized members are admitted to commune at
the Lord’s Table; and that the washing of the saints’ feet is an example
of love and humility which should be practiced by the members of the
church.
(Mat. 28:19-20; 1 Cor. 11:23-26; Acts 2:42; Acts 8:36-38; Luke 22:19-
20; John 13:13-17)

9. We believe every duly organized church is a sovereign and independent

local body, having exclusive authority to receive and discipline her own
members. While she should be considerate of her sister churches, she is
accountable only to Jesus Christ, her Head and King.
(Mat. 16:18-19; Mat. 18:17-18; 1 Cor. 5:4-5; 2 Cor. 2:6-8; Eph. 1:22)

10. We believe in the resurrection of the dead, both the just and the
unjust, and general judgement, and that the joys of the righteous and
the punishment of the wicked will be everlasting.
(Acts 24:15; Mat. 25: 31-46; John 5:28-29; Acts 17:31; 1 Cor. 15:42-
52; Daniel 12:2; 1 Thess. 4:16-18; Rev. 20:11-15)
