General Education Objectives


The general education program primarily aims to enable graduates to assert their identities in the community and the world amidst
the forces of globalization. Specifically, it enables the students to:
1. develop their identity as persons, conscious of their talents, rights and responsibilities towards their selves and others;
2. allow them to discover a sense of awareness of their collective identity and contribute to the development of Filipino society
at local and national levels: and
3. create a global community, where they recognize and respect the fundamental humanity of all, respect and appreciate
diversity, and care about the problems that affect the world.

2. Course Title: Mathematics in the Modern World
3. Pre- Requisite: None
4. Co- Requisite : None
5. Credit/ Class Schedule: 3 units; 3 hours per week
6. Course Description:
The course deals with the nature of mathematics, appreciation of its practical, intellectual, and aesthetic
dimensions, and application of mathematical tools in daily life.
The course begins with an introduction to the nature of mathematics as an exploration of patterns and
as an application of inductive and deductive reasoning. The course then proceeds to survey ways in which
mathematics provides a tool for understanding and dealing with various aspects of present-day living, such as
managing personal finances, making social choices, appreciating geometric designs, understanding codes
used in data transmission and security, and dividing limited resources fairly. ( CMO No.20 series of 2013)

14. Classroom Policies:


The following policies should be observed in distance learning so as to achieve the success of
our endeavor to provide quality education:
A. Asynchronous Instruction
1. Modules
a. Modules will be distributed to every student. Course guide is also included.
b. Students should strictly follow the course guide.
c. Modules should be read for it will serve as your guide to understand the lesson.
d. Activities in the modules should be accomplished within the timed indicated so that your
professor can monitor your progress.
e. No one is excused in accomplishing the said activities.
B. Using a platform
a. Students should register in a platform like FB group chat, FB group page, google
classroom if you are invited by your professor.
b. Keep yourself updated for any announcement posted and perform any task given to you.
C. Synchronous Instruction
If online connectivity is available through any platform like zoom or google meet, the following
should be observed:
1. Attendance is checked regularly (during online classes). Latecomers will not be admitted after 10
minutes (during online classes). This is due to the limitation of time in this mode of teaching and
learning.
2. Proper dress code should be observed during online classes.
3. Requirements for the subject should be submitted on time, unless there are circumstances that
may delay the submission. Online and offline submissions will be accepted. Courier may also be
used in the submission of requirements.
4. Students who are cheating or plagiarizing materials in the course will not receive credit for the
assignments, projects or tests which will likely to lead failure in the course.
5. Students are not allowed to do any other activities(eating, sleeping, etc.) that may distract the
teacher and other students during online classes. In case of emergency kindly notify the teacher
about the situation.
