    SYNOPSIS
    1) Title of the Project

    ‘Supermarket Management System’

    2) Objective of the Project


    “To make software fast in processing, with good user interface so that user
    Can change it and can use it for a long time without error and much
    Maintenance. ”

    3) Scope of the Project

    • In future this system can be installed in multiple PCs and data can be accessed from a
    server through network.

    • Barcode reader could be implemented.

    • through credit and debit cards using swiping machine can also be implemented.

    SUPERMARKET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

    Visual Basic .NET (VB.NET), is an object-oriented computer programming language


    that can be viewed as an evolution of the classic Visual Basic (VB), which is
    implemented on the .NET Framework. Microsoft currently supplies two major
    implementations of Visual Basic: Microsoft Visual Studio 2010.

    Back end: Microsoft SQL

    Microsoft SQL Server is a relational database server, developed by Microsoft: It is a


    software product whose primary function is to store and retrieve data as requested by
    other software applications, be it those on the same computer or those running on
    another computer across a network (including the Internet). There are at least a dozen
    different editions of Microsoft SQL Server aimed at different audiences and for
    different workloads.

     Programming language VB.Net
     Database: SQL Server

    2. Hardware Requirements

     PROCESSOR: Any processer with 2.4 Ghz processing speed or more


     HARD DISK: 50 GB or above
     RAM: 512 MB or above

    6)Structure of the Program

    This project will manage the sales activities which are done in the supermarket,
    maintaining the stock details and maintaining the records of the sales. The users will
    consume less time in calculation and the sales activity will be completed within minutes
    whereas manual system will make the user to write it down which is a long procedure
    and it also consumes a lot of time.

    This system reduces paper work and the user can spend more time on monitoring the
    supermarket. This product aims to be user friendly and easy to use.

    Modules

    1 Dealer Details: Details about the dealer is added such as the dealer name, address
    etc.

    2. Employee Details:Details about the employees such as their personal details,


    payroll, attendance etc. is maintained

    3. Product Details: Details about the products such as product name, price, category,
    brand etc. is stored.

    4. Credit System: certain customers are provided with credit facility. They can do the
    payment within a prescribed date. Details about such customers are added .And when
    the payment is been done, details about that is shown.

    5. Bill Generation: As the customer buys the products and comes to the billing
    counter, the user can enter the item name and quantity of the item the customer has
    purchased. The system will display all the items depending on the category whose
    name starts with the letter selected. He can select out of those displayed. Finally a
    separate bill will be generated for each customer. The total will be automatically
    calculated

    6. Stock Report: The products bought from the vendor will be entered here and this
    will be added to the stock list.

    7. Indent Report: This provides the report of the items sold for a particular month/
    year and also gives the turnover of the company.

    8. Order generation: This will generate a list of items that are out of stock and has to
    be bought from the vendors. It will also show what item has to be bought from which
    dealer.

    Conclusion:
    The proposed supermarket management system is very useful for big supermarkets as well as small ones to
    manage their inventories, staffs, and records of purchases and sales. New features and modules can be
    easily added into the system, so the project is very flexible and can adapt to the requirements of the
    supermarket and its users.
