Floods

Flood is a term used to denote an enormous amount of water.

Furthermore, floods are a natural part of the water cycle. Simply put, a
flood is an overflow of water in one place. Floods can occur when there
is an outflow of water in a place. Floods can occur for a variety of reasons
usually when precipitation falls more quickly than that water which can
be absorbed into the ground or carried away by rivers or streams and
can also be minimized in several different way. The flood may take
different forms such as in the form of heavy rainfall when there is a
breaking of the dam. Furthermore, the melting of snow also leads to
flooding, however in this document we shall be discussing the causes of
floods in Dzivarasekwa.

Causes of Floods
Flood is usually a result of natural causes such as heavy rains,
overflowing rivers etc. It may also be caused by man-made factors like
lack of vegetation due to deforestation. It causes huge damage to life
and property. Many different causes are leading to flooding. Some
prominent among them include the stated below.
Causes
Flash Floods
flash floods happen within six hours of the main event. Most flash
floods occur due to heavy rains from slow-moving thunderstorms,
repeated thunderstorms, or the heavy rains of hurricanes or tropical
storms.
River Floods
Seasonal rains or stalled storms may lead to river floods. River floods
occur as part of the natural seasonal cycle and may last a week or
more.
Urban Floods
As urban areas grow, so does the threat of flooding. Pavement and
buildings prevent infiltration and increase runoff. Streets can become
running rivers and low areas like underpasses and basements may fill
with water.
