I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
a. identify what are the cohesive devices;
b. appreciate the importance of cohesive devices; and
c. construct a paragraph using cohesive devices.

C. Materials : laptop, speaker, projector, strip of paper, cards

III. Procedure
A. Preparatory Activities
a. Classroom Management
b. Prayer
c. Checking of Attendance
d. Review: Essential questions will be raised to activate previous learnings.
e. Motivation: The teacher will show a video of river which has crocodiles and ask
students to share their ideas on how to cross safely to the river where the crocodiles
live.
Essential questions that will lead to the idea of “connection” will be raise.
B. Developmental Activities
a. The teacher will present the learning objectives presented using PowerPoint slides.
Pictures will be projected on the white screen and call some students to
create a sentence that will connect the pictures.
b. Ask: What word did you use to connect the pictures?
(Encourage exchange of ideas)
c. Lesson Proper:
1. Let them watch an educational video about cohesive devices;
2. present new and additional information on what to know about
cohesive devices using PowerPoint slides;
3. encourage students’ participation by asking them to construct
sentences using cohesive devices.
C. Generalization
a. What is/are cohesive devices?
b. When can we use cohesive devices in real life?
c. How will you use it? (Let them present a scenario based on their daily activities)
D. Application
“Read, Identify and Share”
The class will be divided into four groups and should have a leader and a
reporter;
each group will pick a passage to be read;
facilitate them to identify the cohesive devices that are used in the given passage
let them share their answers in the class and encourage exchange of ideas
IV. Evaluation
Direction: In a ½ sheet of paper. Complete the sentence by filling the blanks with appropriate
cohesive devices AND, OR, BECAUSE, BUT or SO.
