Alfred Pennyworth has long been Batman's loyal butler and ally, providing support from the Batcave as Batman fights crime. However, this takes a toll on Alfred, who worries for Batman's safety each night as he puts himself in danger without rest. The story depicts a particularly difficult night for both Alfred and Batman that pushes Alfred to his limit as he waits fearfully for any news. Though tired, Alfred continues to support Batman in his mission to protect Gotham because he sees the good it does for its people, and remains the only family Batman has left.

“THE OTHER SIDE OF THE PENNY!
”
Alfred Pennyworth has been Batman’s most trusted ally and
confidant since the Dark Knight first hit the streets of Gotham City. Now, witness Batman’s battle for justice from Alfred’s perspective and learn how harrowing that journey has been as Batman experiences one of the worst nights Gotham City has ever seen, a night that will push Alfred to the breaking point! “One night Alfred was sleeping as always, suddenly the phone rang. Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne are not here would you like to let a message?” Only one phone call, only one can change a lot the life of people. In my case since that phone calling, everything changed forever. Every night, it does not mean if rains or not or if he is sick or not, I am waiting, I am waiting the phone calling. Usually I stay awake waiting. Sometimes I go down to the Batcave and I just work, preparing the things for his arrival. Every time he dresses as the bat, I know that the night is going to be long. “I cannot sleep Alfred the city needs me” is what he says, “if you want, you can go to sleep” but, neither I can, just I cannot do it. I must to help and care about him, deam it, he is very neglected with his own health, he doesn’t eat on time, he doesn’t sleep, he never keeps resting more than 8 hours. How the hell, can he save the city when he is so bad taking care of himself? Sometimes I ask in my mind, what would he do without me? I have to admit that I am too old to do this. I should be resting at this time and this age but I cannot leave him alone. Every night I pray for receive his calling telling to me that he is coming back. No one ever says that super heroes’ family lIfes were easy but what happen when the only family of a super hero is his old butler? “Mr. Pennyworth, I am calling from the police station, there was a problem” Nights as today I think and I regret the moment, I blame the robber, the bullet, the tragedy of the killing of Mr. Thomas and Martha Wayne. It transform the young Bruce in what he is now, a black painted vigilante with no life, no dreams, no future… only his mission, to protect Gotham from the evil forces. I am tired and I blame myself too, because I rose the child and I let him become in this monster named Batman. Sometimes I hate myself because he should be married and with kids, happy! However, this bloody city, demands a lot of him but, when I see in the morning happy people, families living because he makes the streets safer places for them I ask to myself if the price worth it?… and I say yes. One calling, one night, one bad day, changes all… worried, Alfred jumps from bed. When he arrives to the place, a police officer told him, -Mr. Pennyworth I need you to come with us to identify the bodies-, Alfred answers, No, they are very famous in all Gotham everyone can recognize them. I have a bigger responsibility now. Where is he? The police brings to Alfred the little Bruce; he takes the kid to his room. The room is so big and lonely, said the kid crying, no master Bruce don’t worry, is not so lonely I won’t to go any place, anything you need I will be next to you tonight and… always.
