Duties & Responsibilities: Staff Nurse Operating Room Department
1.1 Receives and assesses patient condition prior to operation, to include

a. Vital Signs
b. Neurologic Status
c. Pain
d. Time and amount of last meal taken.
1.2 Prepares all materials and equipment needed.
1.3 Makes sure of the sterility of OR, supplies and equipment.
1.4 Performs Scrub Nurse or Circulating Nurse duties effectively.
1.5 Performs strict surgical hand scrubbing.
1.6 Assists surgeon in minor and major operation using aseptic techniques.
1.7 Coordinates with and assists in anesthesiologist and surgical team during the
procedure.
1.8 Documents the number of instruments used and makes sure its completeness before
the surgery ends.
1.9 Notes the time the procedure started/ended, blood loss, and resources used.
1.10 Collects specimen for diagnostic procedures.
1.11 Carries out doctor’s orders during post anesthesia care, to include:
a. Monitors patient’s condition, vital signs, Intake and Output, and neurologic status.
b. Administers post-operative medications.
c. Inspects incision site for bleeding and reports to surgeon and anesthesiologist.
1.12 Makes sure that the electronic and mechanical equipment are functional, to
include:
a. Anesthesia Machine
b. Operating Room Light
c. Blood Warmer
d. Patient/Cardiac Monitor
e. ECG machine
f. Defibrillator
g. Cautery Machine
h. Suction Machine
Duties & Responsibilities: Staff Nurse Medical Department
1.1 Receives patient from Emergency Room Department.
1.2 Accurately monitors, measures and documents intake and output of the patient.
1.3 Manages patient and performs nursing procedures, to include:
a. Administering medication and reporting medication response
b. Foley Bag Catheter insertion
c. NGT feeding
d. Starting and Changing IVF as ordered
e. Bedside care
f. Health Education
1.4 Coordinates with other health care department relating to patient care.

b. Thoracentesis
