My own philosophy
Education is for everybody. All of us were given a chance to be educated if we are
just willing to finish a level or degree in college. Even a vendor can be educated if
he/she knows how to value education by working so hard. Working while schooling is
the best perspectives in life. Valuing education means we are always ready to face any
obstacles in life whether we belong to a wealthy family or as a commoner. Nowadays'
education really suits for every one as long as we give much time to it. Modular or
Online learning are just having a common denominator and that is to receive a diploma
to succeed, then we must learn how to handle our schooling following protocols
provided by the government. During my times, Poverty is not the hindrance to our
success. Just enjoy your life in schooling and everything flows so well.
In this chapter, I learned about various educational philosophies. Through my
experienced way back in my school years and when I envision the kind of teacher I
want to be, I will have a progressivism teaching style. I believe that students should be
able to have an input in their learning to a certain subject matter. Together with me and
my students should collectively negotiate what we learn in the classroom. I believe
majority of the time should be focused in creating the learning environment. However, I
feel that students should be able to choose specific content of the subject matter or
areas they want to study in a particular class topic. Students need to know how to solve
problems instead of becoming encyclopedias of knowledge. I clearly offer choices and
options, vary my teaching strategies, personalize knowledge by associating the
curriculum with real life issues and problems to gain the focused attention of the
students. That educational philosophy were anchored on the theory that students learn
best by doing and active teaching encourages active learning.

Before taking this course, teacher professionalism, to me, meant
being knowledgeable, dressing professionally, speaking and acting in an appropriate
way, and teaching the course content to your students in an effective way.
Professionalism is all of that, but it is also so much more. In this course, I have learned
the importance of reflecting on daily lessons, learning through professional development
opportunities, and teachers who are organized and can manage their time efficiently. It
is difficult to sum up professionalism, as it encompasses so much, but to me, a
professional teacher is one who is always striving to learn more and wants to do their
very best to provide a healthy learning environment for their students. Teachers who
strive to excel every day all have one thing in common; they reflect on their teaching.
As an active member of social institutions, my participation helps our society to
survive. My family plays an important role in my personality development and my first
exposure to society. My education taught me skills and knowledge. No matter what our
religion, the purpose of this institution is the same and this is to contribute positively to
our society. I'm currently engaged in banking economic institutions to make a living and
support my family. Lastly, our government that allows citizens to exercise civil rights and
liberties.
Tips: An easy way to remember the social institutions is by using the initials GREEF.
Appended is an interview of teachers about their responsibilities apart from teaching
students.

The code of ethics for teachers is designed to protect the rights of the
students, all the students. It is important that teachers understand that
when they get a teaching position they are agreeing to follow the code of
ethics. Teachers are expected to be fair to all their students and not to take
advantage of their position in any way. For example, you can't accept
expensive gifts from students because it might appear to bias you. You
need to have a professional relationship with all students and not let it get
too casual and familiar. Apparently, there is quite a bit of abuse that is
happening in the school. You need to protect your students' safety and not
believe that this is someone else's job. The main thing is not to abuse the
power that your position, over your students, might give you. Think through
the implications of what happens.

In my Field Study, I asked some of the teachers and students which I've
known about the common non-compliance and practices they think are not
ethical for teachers. And, here are the common issues I gathered: Some
teachers are having a relationship with their students and involved in
adultery. Teachers who are pressuring students to buy a books and doing
sexual exploitation.

Teachers are successful when they are organized and have a plan of action that will
guide them everyday of the school year. This plan is known as a Classroom
Management Plan. This is the guidebook to how your classroom will run. It will have all
of your procedures, your principles, rules, and a general of what will take place in your
class. While reading I have already made a Classroom Management Plan, and reading
this chapter I would like to add a few ideas that I have learned to it. I have three major
principles that I took from this chapter and combined to what I already have in my plan.
The first is about procedures; the second is about teacher communication to students
and parents, and lastly about creating the respectful and safe environment.

This involves communicating with other teachers, students, administration, and

parents. Communicating with other co teachers is a good way to get new ideas and
ways to teach certain content. It is a good way to just bounce ideas off of each other.
This can come in handy when maybe feeling stuck on a topic that you just are not sure
how to teach. Communicating with administration is important because that is where
your line of updates comes from as well as good advice on how to handle certain
situations. They will be able to inform you on many topics and be able to give good
advice. Communicating with students is very important and is one of the major reasons
why I think it is a big principle. We as future teacher need to communicate to our
students what we expect from them and how we expect them to act in our classrooms.
This clarity of what we want really decreases the amount of violence and bullying that
could take place in the classroom. Lastly, communication with parents is key. They trust
us with their children and this is no small task. I think it is so important to let parents
know what you are doing in class, what you are learning, your expectations, how things
work in your individual classroom, such as homework and late work policies. The more
we let parents know what is happening in the classroom the more trust there will be and
the support from them.

It is important to foster a learning environment in which students feel safe, relaxed,

and willing to take risks, especially for learners who may have had negative experiences
in traditional classroom environments. Students often describe supportive learning
environments as expanding their sense of family and enhancing their self-esteem,
which, when combined with increased literacy skills, help students take more chances in
pursuing their goals.

The role of the teacher in a school-community relationship is extremely important
since it is the teacher who is the backbone of the educational system. Teacher services
aren't limited inside the classroom only. They must be active as leader in the
community. As what I've observed with the teachers in our barangay they are actively
supporting peace and order, safety in public conveyance and compliance with
ordinances. Afford ample protection and disciplinary measures deserved by all. Also, by
beautification of the community through tree planting in every household and
cleanliness through proper waste disposal are voluntarily undertaken by both. During
observance of significant school rites, Professionals and practitioners from the
community can be invited as resource speakers. They also have school association like
Parent Teacher Association(PTA) and Brigada Eskwela. The teachers and the
community is a working partnership will help to create a better education to students.
Example: Our historic celebration are celebrated and supported by all( school and
community) showing a strong feeling of togetherness. The values of nationalism and
unity are developed through the examples demonstrated by the schools especially the
teacher.

 In most countries, education is usually part of the top priorities, which includes
implementing better systems for the children’s future, advanced learning systems
and improving the country’s academic curriculum. K to 12 program
implementation aimed at creating more skilled students with basic skills for
lifelong learning and employment. This program promoted the mutual recognition
of Filipino learners and professionals in other countries because they were able
to master the skills and learn the core competencies which were necessary to
meet the demands of the global market. Appended is a comparison and contrast
of K to 12 curriculum in the Philippines vs. Thailand.

To be called as teacher in the future is already a big challenge for me. How much
more to be a global teacher. It placed greater demands to teachers in today's school.
Teachers in multicultural settings have special educational opportunities and
responsibilities. One of the most important task for educators in the worlds today is to
help students to learn about the rich variety of people in our multicultural world and the
important world problems that face our planet. It may sounds really difficult but teachers
always take challenges. As long as we have good interpersonal relationship, we can
clarify our perspective of this multicultural education. And, someday as a 21st century
educator I will model tolerance, acceptance and a wider view with that just our curricula
areas, global awareness, and reflections. I will plan activities with a multicultural
framework while making my classroom a safe and a secure place for my students.

The exchange programme was an enthralling experience both in terms of academic
and cultural exchange. Exchange programmes are becoming increasingly popular. They
represent one of the strongest and most popular pillars in the attempt to integrate
global, intercultural and international perspectives into higher education institutions and
are perceived at times as ‘the heart of internationalization or as ‘the face of
internationalization.
The teacher exchange program is where qualified teachers can interchange places
with teachers in other nations, typically for a school year whether by semester or annual
basis. It's the perfect chance for educators to share ideas and knowledge, as well as
learn about the best educational practices overseas. Exchange programs create
chances for participants to learn, to grow, and to work with other educators abroad.
Teacher Exchange program trained future teachers who instinctively appreciate the
essence of international collaboration, empathy, and global competitiveness.

Global Teachers: Technology and Digital Innovative

In the world we live in, technology is literally everywhere and the kids
adapt to it more than anyone else. Unlike teachers, students are being
raised in a digital world. For students of all ages, it is absolutely natural to
use technology in every aspect of their lives. This is why digital tools in
classroom are becoming more and more crucial. Traditional methods for
teaching are already going through a transformation to adapt to the needs
of 21st-century students and to enhance the professional practice of
teachers. The digital future is literally happening now. Using technology for
education provokes student’s curiosity, boost their engagement, and leads
to better learning and comprehension. These factors are a priority for every
effective teacher and today they can be easily achieved by using digital
tools in classroom. Here are some of the latest and greatest inventions in
computers and digital media which can be of great help today: Projectors,
Websites and Blogs, Audio and Video, Computers, Tablets, Mobile Devices
and Social Networks. With these tools, innovative teachers can save time
and money because of the easy access to course materials. For students,
they are motivated by computer based, screens and digital materials and
technology aided instruction. Technology is a friend of education and there
is no reason to fight this trend. Right on the contrary, by incorporating
digital tools in classroom, you become an effective school leader who
fosters innovation.

CHAPTER 10
The Professional Teachers: Conformers of Legal and
Constitutional Mandates
Education is very important in everyone, but not all has the opportunity to
finish and earn their diplomas. To the Filipino, knowledge is acquired
through education. Although they generally agree that education can be
obtained inside and outside school, they believe that the primary sources of
knowledge are the schools. Thus, building a strong foundation when it
comes to education the government always there to set a law to make it
effective for everyone.
As such, Republic Act No. 4670 otherwise known as “The Magna Carta
for Public School Teachers” was passed into law in view of providing
professional rights and safeguards to our public school teachers in
consideration of the exigency and level of difficulty of the exercise of their
profession. However, the said law has which was signed on June 18, 1966
remains untouched for more than half a century now exhibits weaknesses
that hamper the improvement of the social and economic status and
working conditions of our public school teachers. The need for
modifications and amendments to strengthen the law is in order. This bill
seeks to amend the aforementioned law to make the said measure more
responsive by expanding public school teachers working rights,
strengthening working protections and safeguards and providing additional
incentives for extra-curricular work.
