CAS-Ed Week held By:

Jesus Z. Menoy

The faculty members and students of the College of Arts

and Sciences-Education took a break from academic work
as they enjoyed the extra-curricular activities during the five-
day celebration of the CAS-Ed Week from January 25 to 29,
2010.
Themed "Rebuilding Social Awareness through
Education," the celebration kicked off with the opening of the
art exhibit dubbed "School-tura IX” featuring the artworks of
Humanities students, together with the literary works of
English students, displayed at the CAS Faculty Room.
The movie production of the world-renowned work of
Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy, “War and Peace," was shown for
free at the Studio Theater at 1:00-4:00 p.m. of the first day.

On January 26 academic contests were held such as

"Sabayang Bigkas” in the morning and "Battle of the
Brain" in the afternoon.
January 27 was a fun-filled day for students and
teachers alike as they participated in the "Amazing Race”
game in the morning and in the sportsfest in the afternoon.
On January 28, English literary contests
(extemporaneous speaking and literary buzz) were
conducted from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. The afternoon was
devoted to a seminar workshop on personality
development.
The week-long celebration was capped by the
awarding of winners in the various contests held, following a
demo fest on the teaching of literature at the audio-visual room of the
Main Library at 1:00-3:00 p.m., January 28.
The celebration was a success due to the close
supervision of Dr. Rosenda de Gracia, Vice-President for
Academic Affair and CAS-Education Dean, and the
cooperation of the officers and members of the
Psychology Society, Future Educators Association,
and English Club.
