Assessment No.1
LESSONS LEARNED:
Subject teaching arts is significant to youth and adolescents, from
primary schools up to tertiary. It can help children develop their social and
mental skills. For young children, primary school is a place that not only
teaches how to read, write, and add numbers, but to socialize, and build
healthy friendships.

This chapter, introduces and inculcate into my mind the importance of

art to education and teaching. It enhances love for our surroundings and
human relationships. Meanwhile, I gained also the different elements of art
and principle of design which is integral in art education. Elements of arts are
as follows; line, form, values, color, space, and texture. Furthermore, there
were two kinds of design the structural which refers to the arrangement
governed by size, shape, color, value, space, and texture. While, decorative is
the surface enrichment of a structural design and enhances the beauty of
structural design. Likewise, elements of design that encompasses balance,
rhythm, emphasis and subordinate, proportion, and harmony. Per mentioned
above play a significant role in arts.

Hence, they are one of the reasons why art exist.

A.

There are basic elements of arts that was used in this drawing and
those are: color that makes this output alive, form that convey ideas or
emotions to viewers, space it refers to the distance which includes a positive
background; lines which are explicit in the drawing which add the beauty of
art. Meanwhile, the principles of design used are balance which makes design
in a composition stable; rhythm movements are achieved by repetition,
profession and continuous line movement. Thus, elements and principles of
design that was used are significant to attain a beautiful master piece we could
ever have, without them art would probably a dull one.

CHAPTER NO.2
LESSONS LEARNED:
Chapter 2 portrays values of art education. From this chapter, I learned
the values of art, cite significant examples to the realization of value, and classify the
different values of art education.

It says that values art has a universal appeal for children. It makes them feel
attracted, eager, derive satisfaction, and benefits from it. Moreover, the following are
values of art; aesthetic awareness, totality of experience, individuality,
expressiveness, inventiveness and resourcefulness, and freedom. They differ from
each other in terms of characteristics and meaning, but they are all significant in the
values of art education. Meanwhile, there are theories of art. One is cognitive theories,
believed that children draw what they know. Second is psychoanalytic theories,
believes that children draw what they feel, not what they know. Another is perceptual
theories, believe that children do not draw what they feel, but what they see. Lastly,
perceptual delineation theories, believes that children draw as they do.

Thus, learning values of art is quite significant for me as a future educator.

With this, I can impart something that will make impact to their lives.

ASSESSMENT NO. 2
A. Individuality, because I believe everyone has different perspective when it
comes to art. Particularly to children, it will vary in accordance to what they
know, what they feel, what they see, and what they do. With this, a child will
demand to make him search and build his own unique resources instead of
being led by others.
B. As a future art teacher, it is important to develop the values of individuality
among students, by means of giving them a task about art. But it is still up to
them on what and how they will be doing it. With this, individuality in the
classroom is being practiced.
C. Sigmund Freud, founder of psychoanalytic theory. For his theory, the
unconscious mind was the largest part, but also the hidden or repressed part.
Below is an example of his works.

Widely recognized as the “father of psychoanalysis”, Austrian

neurologist Sigmund Freud forever altered the way we see ourselves.
Believing our adult behavior is driven by repressed childhood experiences of
love, loss, sexuality and death, he wrote extensively on the subject, as well as
practicing psychoanalytical therapy with many patients in distress. Nowadays,
most of Freud’s ideas have generally been replaced by a more rational,

scientific approach to human psychology. But within the arts, the creativity
and inventiveness of Sigmund Freud’s theories continue to fascinate and
inspire countless creative thinkers.
