Bicolanos are also known for being very religious, the place is known for Señora De
Peñafrancia. Bicolanos are often sweet, regionalistic, friendly, adventurous, puts
high importance on education and social status. Contrary to what is believed, not
all Bicolanos are fond of chili
Writers and historians in the region are accustomed to
using two spellings—"Bicol" and "Bikol"—to distinguish the
regional language and culture from geographic and
demographic references.
The majority of people agree that "Bicol" refers to the
place and people, while "Bikol" refers to the language and
culture.
The "k" represents the precolonial Malayo-Polynesian
linguistic origins, whereas the "c" represents the lingua
franca of the Spanish colonial period.
Bicol literature is poetry, novel or fiction written about Bicol. Not
necessarily in the Bicol language, not necessarily published in Bicol,
and not necessarily by a Bicolano, but it's about Bicol. Meaning, if it's
a short story the setting is in Bicol or its character is a Bicolano.

Mariano Perfecto
Mariano Perfecto (1853 - November 3, 1913) was the fifth
Governor of Ambos Camarines (1910–1913). Known as a
prolific writer, he is considered as the "Father of Bikol
Literature," and the "Father of Bisayan Literature." He
published the first newspaper in the Bikol language, An
Parabareta (1899–1900) and set up the first printing press in
the Bikol region, the Libreria y Imprenta Mariana. His literary
output ranged from translations of religious tracts, novenas
to poems, short dramas and linguistic works both in the
Ilonggo and Bikol languages.
Dr. Maria Lilia Fuentebella Realubit [1] (October 22, 1930 - 17 August
2017) was a Bicol writer who was a former professor of the College of
Education of the University of the Philippines and received the
Masirang Bituon kan Kabikolan (Life Success Award) in the first
Tomas Arejola Award for Bikolnon Literature in 2004. He founded
Kabulig Bikol and Bikol Heritage Society, Inc. [2]
Jaime Jesus Borlagdan is a poet, songwriter, graphic artist, and musician from the Philippines.
He writes in three languages, but primarily in Albay-Bikol, his home dialect. Maynila: Libro ng
Pobya (Manila: Book of Fears), a collection of Tagalog poems he published in 1999, is now
regarded a significant and influential compilation by his young fans. his current works in the
Bikol language have not yet been published collectively. In Tabaco City Albay, he works as a
consultant at Tabaco City Hall. He is married to Caren and has a daughter named Radha.
