Hands-On Activity 4.2 - Administering Databases
Supplementary Activity:
1. Create Employees_ABC database using the given structure. Change the data type according to the
data type of SQL Server
2. Create a copy of Employees_ABC and save the mdf and log files to EMPLOYEES folder.
3. Create an excel file named as EMPLOYEES_ABC. Create a department worksheet. Input the
following Information to the department worksheet.
8. Create a full backup of Employees_ABC database. Choose your own backup name.
9. Create a database Employees_Happy. Restore Employees_Happy database using the full backup
created on Step 8.
In this section, I attempted to follow the protocol by creating a backup for ABC Employees and restoring
it to a different database called Employees_Happy, but I failed, because you can only restore the first
database. The database where the backup was created I can only restore it to ABC Employees in this
scenario table.
Conclusion:
In this task, I'm having trouble following the steps since I can't find some of the buttons that I need to
click, and some of the words used in the steps are unfamiliar to me, such as department worksheet, and
others, so I'm not sure what I should do. However, I discovered and learned the importance of
maintaining a database backup, and the most significant benefit of regular remote data backup is its high
reliability. You can have daily remote backups automated and updated, or you can back up your data at
a specific time. I've also learned how to restore databases; the only thing I'm having trouble with is
importing and exporting data into other formats, but I believe I'll be able to accomplish it with practice.
