NARRATIVE REPORT ON SCHOOL CANTEEN OPERATION

School canteen has a special role in the education, health, and well-being of the
pupils that they serve.

Sta. Cruz Elementary School are hereby followed these guidelines in order to
rationalize the operation and management of school canteens in the public school system
and to ensure that the school canteen shall help eliminate malnutrition among
pupils/students and serve as a venue for the development of desirable eating habits of
pupils/students.
In order from these guidelines, our school canteen served ¾ of the total population
of students, teachers and employees. They used to eat at our school canteen because they
served/sold nutritious and healthy food at competitive price like arroz caldo with egg,
macaroni soup, boiled banana ,corn,camote, peanuts and egg, fruits, bread, biscuits, bottled
water and junk foods which is accepted by DOH with Sangkap Pinoy Vitamin A seal.

Our school canteen is strictly following high standards of hygiene in handling,


preparing, serving and storage of food.

The income derived from the operation of canteen were utilized for the
supplementary feeding program for undernourished students (35%), school clinic
fund(5%),faculty and student development fund (15%),H.E. instructional fund (10%),
school operations fund (25%),and revolving capital (10%).Incentives received in cash or in
kind from private suppliers of food items shall form part of the gross income of the school
canteen and shall be part of the financial statement.

Earnings and cash received from canteen operation were directly every week from
our school treasurer. Indigent students were benefited for this in school git giving project.

For the purpose of the transparency and accountability, the school principal
organized a school level auditing committee to be headed by Mathematics and Home
Economics Teacher and the president of the faculty club as members. The committee
looked into the books of accounts at least once a month. The audited statements posted on
the school’s bulletin board for the information of everybody.
So far, school canteen is temporarily closed amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. But still
its functional to give good services for the feeding period for this school year which
includes nutritious food products and milk component. to be picked up by parents from
school.
