excellence in its execution of its programme. Challenge is no benefits, no job security and no 13th
cheque, the company has resources and the team is great, great team work spirit. The work place
culture is very well-rounded; the office manager style is an open door policy where everything is
open to everyone.

8. Supervision or human resource performance management and development

Supervision is mostly done through group supervision since this is the most cost-effective
method and provides range of learning experiences.
 The administrative function of supervision includes aspect such as orientation regarding
the welfare organization and practical work requirement, liaison with the contact
person of the organization, record keeping, supervision interventions, reports and the
assessment performance.
 The support function supervision is very important because employees are confronted
with the “real world” of social work and a variety of client problems. The supervisor has
to build a climate of trust in which the employees can honestly share their feelings and
experiences, recognise achievements and manage personal blockages or painful
experiences objectively and openly. In group supervision, the peer group members also
provide valuable support to one another.
 As part of the educational function, the supervisor helps supervisees to identify their
preferred learning style and barriers to learning. The supervisor also assesses the
employees’ knowledge and skills and identifies with the employees gaps for
development. The educational needs of employees may be met by a variety of teaching
techniques including didactic teaching, the attendance of a workshop on the specific
needs, the reading of articles or other relevant literature, roleplaying and group
discussion.

9. Financial resources
The Phokeng Trauma Centre is a centralized ape and trauma support entre that assist victims
and survivors of crime, domestic violence, child neglect and physical and sexual assault,
including rape. It has received funding from RBN for the past two years and continuous to play
critical role in the RBN community. The organization has partnered with government,
communities, business and international organization, such as UN, who have been providing
financial and non-financial support.

10. Record keeping

Organisation make use of various technologies in their recording and report writing. The
technologies that are used, among others, are computers, the telephone, shredding machines,
fax machines, and internet. The internet has come with various software systems that are used
in practice to source information, communicate information about organization to the public,
communicate with clients, do fundraising, convert and store information of the organization and
that of client.
Advantage of technology – technology has greatly expanded the organisation’s ability to assist
people in need, because social workers can provide a variety of online services including online
counseling, telephone counseling, video conferencing, email and text messages. One of the
most noticeable benefits of technology is that it has made it easier for information to be made
widely available.

Technological challenges – however, the new technological development have also raised
many challenges and questions in terms of ethical social work practice. Can social work
guarantee that the group for adolescence teenage mothers she conducts via videoconferencing
or Facebook will be confidential? There is no assurance that the telephone conversation with
clients about private issues of the clients is confidential.
