1. What is a business model? Elaborate on the definition and give an example.

The word "business model" refers to a company's profit strategy or how a company produces, delivers, and
captures value in economic, social, cultural, or other ways. It specifies the goods or services that the
company intends to provide, as well as its target market and any anticipated costs. Including both new and
existing companies, market models are important. They assist emerging and growing businesses by
attracting capital, recruiting talent, and motivating management and employees. Established businesses
should refresh their business plans on a regular basis, otherwise they will miss out on future developments
and challenges. Investors prefer business plans to evaluate companies that they are interested in. For
example, when a company introduces a new product, a good brand, and a replicable business model, the
result is a franchise. It then sells it to those to buy and run on their own. Starbucks is a group of coffee
shops that sells a variety of coffee-related drinks.

2. What is information system? Elaborate and describe the details.

An information system is a collection of interconnected components that collect, store, and process data as
well as provide information, knowledge, and digital goods. Information systems are often used by
businesses and other organisations to carry out and manage operations, communicate with consumers and
suppliers, and compete in the marketplace. Interorganizational supply chains and electronic markets are
run by information systems. Corporate information systems, for example, are used to process financial
statements, handle human resources, and reach out to potential customers through online advertisements.
Many large corporations are mostly based on information systems. Two examples are, Alibaba, a business-
to-business e-marketplace, and Google, a search engine that makes the majority of its money from
keyword ads on Internet search. Governments use information systems to provide people with cost-
effective programmes. Individuals rely on information systems, which are mostly Internet-based, to carry
out certain aspects of their daily lives, including socialising, studying, shopping, banking, and
entertainment.

3. Propose a business of your own. Describe the business model and information system that
you are going to need to build it.

1. KEY PARTNERS
Key partners are the partnerships who have with other companies, governmental agencies, or non-
consumer organizations that help work with our business model. This could be our company's
relationships with our suppliers, our distributors, business associates, etc. The key partners that we
selected for our food delivery business are materials and ingredients sellers and delivery provider.
Stores that sell materials and ingredients needed for cooking are one of the key partners who
collaborate with us to run the food delivery business. This is the most famous method and will help
you provide a consistent and comprehensive source of your business's supplies. A "supplier" is a
business that we want to provide a product or service required and is more like a supplier dependent
on commodities. Supplier communications are mainly one way and, if necessary, can be easily
replaced with another supplier.
Delivery provides who help the owner to deliver the food to customers. Delivery transport is the
backbone of every on-demand business. Depending on various factors, companies can have different
models of food distribution. A driver of delivery employed by the food delivery business. They are
logged into their courier phone app that monitors their location while a courier is on duty. Couriers
decide whether they can or cannot do the job upon obtaining an order.

2. KEY ACTIVITIES
The key activities are one of the important tasks in executing the company’s value proposition. Key
activities also known as any activities that your business is occupied with for the basic role of making
a profit. Business activities are including operations, marketing, production, critical thinking, and
organization. This section should include specific activities that the organization will do that will
make it stand apart from the rest. Not at all like the Value Propositions, it is not just about another
item or business practice, but instead the everyday tasks that each group will take to remain a stride in
front of the opposition. Key activities for the business were selected are promote business using social
media, local marketing, catering management, orders for events, celebration, festivals, and ceremonies
and managing delivery and payment process.

3. KEY RESOURCES
To build value for your clients, resources are required. Your assets are considered, and they are
needed to maintain and support your business. These properties can be classified into four major
categories are physical resources, human resources, intellectual resources, and financial resources.
Key resources for the business were selected are technology, delivery providers, good skills, and
equipment. The technology used by these businesses for receiving and communicating the order like
consumer orders on the website. Then the order is obtained by us by fax (preferred by many) or email
and we will notify the order that has been received. There are many ways for this to be done. They
can log into the website, call an automated telephone system, answer an automated telephone system
call and more. Companies could start sending orders to a native mobile app or web app. In certain
situations, these businesses incorporate into the POS structure of the restaurant and print the order
directly in the kitchen. It is rare.

4. COST STRUCTURE
In planning the cost structure for the food delivery, big considerations are given to the most expensive
key resources and activities. The key resources including technology delivery providers, good skills
dan equipment while key activities including promote business using social media such as posting
food orders in Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, local marketing, catering management, events,
celebration, festivals, and ceremonies, managing delivery and payment process. The involves cost
needs to promote advertisement in social media, machine, product ingredients. Employees salary is
also one of the main costs for us during this tough time.
5. VALUE PROPOSITION
Value proposition defined as the value of a company promises or agree to deliver to customers who
should they choose to buy their product. This one help company to develop their business and
provides a declaration of a statement that introduces a company’s brand to customers and telling them
how it operates and why it deserves their business.
People are having a lot of problems, mostly with food, during Covid-19. We decided to start this
company because we are having a hard time finding enough food at reasonable rates in our current
situation. Many grocery stores have closed as a result of the government's implementation of CMCO
with some SOPs in order to Covid-19. Because of this people did not get enough food and suffer for
this. But food is one of our vital need and this is the main reason why I chose this business so that
people could effort to buy their daily needs in normal price.
In my business, foods are made with full of health concern and tasty too. We are selling veg and non-
veg of Indian food by cooking with Indian spices and herbs which is health benefits to our body.
Moreover, introducing booking system to business. This system helps us to safe from food wastage.
To take orders, I'll post my food menu on social. Then, every food price is very affordable and got
different payment method. Delivery service is including in this business as a side work.

6. CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIP
Customer relationship elaborates the type of relationship a company create with its specific customer
segments. The company did customer service with do delivery to customer order place on time and
with extra additional volume. An extra additional volume of foods will show our customer
relationship. This makes customer trust ability on our business. Customers allow comment on our
foods and our deliver delays if any mistaken happened. They can make order and comment through
and customer support chat. The business will handle customers with politeness. We only provide our
true details on social customer chat. This will make the show our true business. Customers are the
backbone of any business and without them, any business would fail. Giving top- quality customer
services is on important rule of thumb for any business. Our delivery will be punctual. If any delays
happen, we will reduce the price of the food. This shows our business trust ability.

7. CHANNELS
Channels can be defined as a platform to give awareness and information about the product or service
that a business provided. The importance of this channel is to ensure that business product safe arrived
at customers. The channels that we use are multichannel marketing (online & offline), websites
(connected through social media sites), mobile applications (food apps), direct sales and direct mail to
acquire, retain and continuously develop our customers.
Multichannel marketing are marketing methods that use more than one marketing channel. These
multichannel marketing enhance the role of the internet as one of the forms of marketing channels.
This multichannel marketing consists of two methods either online or offline. The purchase for offline
channel such as restaurant, hypermarket, food stall and outlets. Customers prefer to shop online than
offline because one possible reason is the high level of impulsive buying behaviour of consumers.
Lastly, for daily orders like for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, we use mobile applications (food apps) as
a platform to collect the orders such as Food Panda, grab. Customers can download for free from Play
store (Android users) and App store (iOS users).
8. MARKET AND CUSTOMER SEGMENTS
Customer is the party that buys product produced by the entrepreneur. The customers are made up of
differences in terms of demographics (age, gender, income, occupation) and psychography (desires,
wants and tastes). Customer segments refers to the target group of customers who will use the
products or services offered by a business. The focus on this target group allows entrepreneurial
businesses to be more focused on their niche nature. A market is a situation where buyers and sellers
meet to conduct business directly or indirectly. The groups of customers that we are targeting are
children, adults, busy people, special people, order people and people who do not wish to go to
restaurant.

9. REVENUE STREAMS AND PRICING MODELS


The profit that we get from our delivery food is sales of our products directly to the customers. The
more food delivery we can get from customers, the more we can earn from it. Due to the Covid-19
pandemic, people are afraid to buy foods by their own. Therefore, people tend to order food online via
various platform to order food delivery to their step door. For instance, people can choose differ
cuisine from our platform according to their favour. We do have some side dish with vary prices. This
is one of the extra sales we can earn from it besides from main dishes. Secondly, advertisement that
we use on social media to promote our food delivery enable us to boost sales from time to time. For
instance, membership is available 10% discount for each order. People may get attention or attraction
through membership discount. People will order our food delivery when they are hungry. Thus, our
food delivery sales highly boosted. People are actively on social media specially teenager may attract
by our advertisement. One of the revenues for our food delivery is delivery charged or delivery
incomes. This is because some customer lives far away from business location. Therefore, we provide
delivery service to our customers. The delivery charges may vary according to the distance of location
house. The range fees are between RM5-12. However, customer with big orders may get free delivery
as a pay back. We as a food delivery can solve our customer who is lazy or being afraid going out
during this Covid-19 pandemic. Other than that, our income can collect through membership
registered by our customer. Clients need to pay registration fees on the first time after they will enjoy
10% discount from each purchase. customers are highly encouraging by us to apply membership
because they can enjoy lower foods price and we are able collected extra revenue, respectively.
Moreover, we can ensure our customers loyalty via membership as they can benefits from the
discounts.
