When I hear the word PRIDE, I immediately think of fearlessness, bravery, selflessness,

and honor. Pride month is about promoting the equality, self-affirmation and visibility of
the LGBTQIA+ people, by creating a safe space and community for people to be who
they are; and as we celebrate PRIDE MONTH every June, we should not forget the
brave souls who fought for the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community at the Stonewall
Inn, or the members of the community who were gravely discriminated, worse, even
killed just because of their sexuality, or even those people who continuously fight for
their place every day; because these are the reasons why we celebrate PRIDE MONTH.
To remember, to resist, and to never forget.

As an aspiring lawyer, it is one of my duty to continue the fight for equality: in the law,
to amplify the voices of the oppressed, and to change the oppressive and discriminatory
system which denies the existence of the marginalized sector. There is no equality if we
do not recognize gay rights as human rights. It is not enough to be silent nor neutral in
situations of injustice, we should be proactive, we should stand up and fight against
discrimination.

To conclude, I would like to quote the famous black transgender activist, Marsha P.
Johnson: NO PRIDE FOR SOME OF US WITHOUT LIBERATION FOR ALL OF US.
