Eccleso-centric is a paradigm in doing mission where God is acknowledged but not


emphasized as the source of mission.The ecclesio-centric view of mission also
emphasizes the idea thatthe more people who participate in Jesus’ proclamation of the
Kingdom of God, the better.

Missiology is the systematic study of mission, evangelization, and missionary activity


of the church.The church is the main instrument in the work of mission.Mission is
basically evangelizing and baptizing people.In missiology, doing missionary acivities
for the Church is the foundation of Christianity’s self-undertanding. And as there was
growth in the understanding of faith, so there were changes in the understanding of
mission.

To do mission is an integral part of the Church. Do also remember that in


Christianity, the model for doing mission is always God. Note further that in
missiology, culture should never be ignored because it is the context of misson.

Dialogue with cultures challenge Christians to exert effort to cooperate and sow unity
between and among the members of the church.Missiology also teaches us that the

mind that the Holy Spirit is the source of inspiration for mission.

Theo - centric is an understanding of mission referring to active participation in God’s

compassion towards others, peace, and social justice.The Theo-centricview of mission


further respects the cultural situation of people in the mission territories.

Incarnation - This is the theological term for God’s immersion of Himself in his own

creation by taking the form of a human being. It is mentioned in John 1: 1-5 that the
Word was made flesh and this is the meaning of incarnation. The main theme of this
Biblical text is the Word. Further incarnation implies that Jesus is both human and

divine.

When Jesus Christ was here on earth, he teaches us to call God, “Abba.” This
suggests thathuman beings are intimately related to God. When Jesus also said, “Not
my will but yours be done.” This implies thatJesus saw God’s will as primary and
ultimate.

Inculturation - lies at the heart of God’s mission and provides the context, model, and
the inspiration for the church’s mission.

Ecumenism is a movement within Christianity that is meant to promote unity and


cooperation.
