Lacamas Lake Regional Park: Lichenized Fungi, Vascular Plant List
Lacamas Lake Regional Park is a dense forest of 312 acres of wildflower friendly diverse habitats and
microclimates. The park includes riparian areas along the shoreline of Round Lake, Lacamas Creek and other
smaller creeks, oak “balds― (also known as the lily fields), and large amounts of dense forest eco-supportive
of over 135 native plant species. Mid-spring brings white fawn lilies and death camas, dense patches of blue
camas and red Plectritis, maroon bleeding hearts, yellow buttercups, orange honeysuckle, brown checker lilies,
fragrant serviceberry, wild cherry, and much more. An equally diverse overstory of trees help protect the
moisture loving understory of wildflowers beneath. Scenic waterfalls add to the richness of the experience. A
network of interconnecting trails accommodates a variety of hiking experiences of varied length--from the 1.25
Round Lake Loop trail with gentle changes in elevation. Over six miles of trails exist some of which are steep
and moderately difficult with rocky or slippery muddy surfaces. List by Don Hardin.with assistance of Ron
Klump and Bill Brookerson. Dates surveyed: 4/14/2020, 4/21/2020, 5/5/2020, 5/19/2020. All trails were
surveyed; off trail areas were not included. Visual inspection varied with terrain from several hundred feet on
the open balds to just a few yards in deeper forest and steeper slopes. Guesstimates place level of survey at
better than 20% of the park.
