The illustration above shows how the San Miguel Food and Brewery’s industries fair against its
competitors in the Philippines for the year 2020. When it comes to the food segment San Miguel Food
and Brewery lags behind Nestle Philippines in terms of sales thus making the latter the leading food
segment leader in the country. SMFB’s relative market share SMFB holds 92.36% of relative market
share beating Universal Robina with 88.18%. SMFB also shows promising growth rate at 3% only second
to the industry Nestle Philippines at 6 % beating URC which shows negative growth rate.

When it comes to the Spirits and Distillery, SMFB also ranked second to industry leader Emperador Inc.
when it comes to sales posting a relative market share of 69%. Despite being ranked second when it
comes to market share, the SMFB outranks Emperador Inc, when it comes to growth potential whilst
LTG Holding’s Alcoholic Beverage Segment comprise of Tanduay Distilleries showed the most promising
growth rate while holding the lowest market share among the three companies.

When it comes to the beer and non-alcoholic beverage, SMFB outranks all the companies in the country
posting a staggering 92.4% when it comes to the beer industry. Relative to it is its number one
competitor Asia Brewery which was in a joint venture with international beer brand Heineken. When it
comes to the growth rate, both companies showed negative growth with the industry being affected
with the recent excise tax rate schemes and liquor bans in the onset of 2020 due to the pandemic.
