Midterm Exam.
Answer the following questions 10 points each.
Education is the process of learning that can take place anywhere and at any time. I believe
that creativity and activity as well as books and lessons are essential to the learning process.
As a teacher, I hope to instill in the children a sense of knowledge and self-worth that will
remain with them throughout their lives. Education is important not only to maintain daily
life, but also to become someone who contributes to society. Without education people
have no chance to impact the lives of others in their own community. I want to give the
children I teach a chance to give back to their community and society.
Philosophy gives you a different perspective it is a doorway into the minds of all kinds of
people.
It allows you to see the world the way they see it, how to feel, to think, to believe like
others. Thus, it is your window into the world. (Though not the only window).
The ability to see from different perspectives, and also to learn from others experiences,
allows you gleam understanding and wisdom from tough situations you might never
experience. That will guide you. The wisdom you get from it will be your compass in life.
4 what are the things that education should know about the philosophy of education?
The important thing at this point is not to commit to a belief structure but to try to
understand how others have approached teaching and learning. What I’ve come to believe
that what educational philosophy for a teacher should be based on the students you have
and their needs. Something that helps students that aren’t yours just doesn’t matter too
much to you as a teacher, even if as a society it’s worth focusing on.
We have a very rich philosophical heritage. But only five philosophies were discussed here:
essentialism, progressivism, parennialism, existentialism and behaviorism. The five
philosophies differ in their concepts of the learner and values, in what should be taught and
in the manner of arriving at the truth.
