ABBREVIATIONS
ch: chain
sc: single crochet
1 inc: single crochet 2 stitches in the same stitch
1 dec: single crochet 2 stitches together
sl: slip stitch
dc: double crochet
tr: treble (triple) crochet

MATERIAL YOU NEED

- Yarn in green, light pink, black, white, yellow and dark pink
- 2.50 mm crochet hook (or the size you need depending on your type of yarn)
- Tapestry Needle
- Polyester stuffing
- 8 mm safety eyes, two for each cactus
- Black embroidery floss
- Locking stitch marker

Yarn used for the pattern is Schepjees Catona in the colors: Green #241, #389 #413, Brown
#157, Light pink #222, Black #110, White #106, Yellow #403, Dark pink #114

You are going to crochet in a continuous spiral, do not join the rounds.
Use a locking stitch marker to mark the beginning of the rounds.

POT
With black yarn
Start with a magic ring
R1: 6 sc into the magic ring (6)
R2: [1 inc] x6 (12)
R3: [1 sc, 1 inc] x6 (18)
R4: [2 sc, 1 inc] x6 (24)
R5: [3 sc, 1 inc] x6 (30)
R6: [4 sc, 1 inc] x6 (36)
R7: [5 sc, 1 inc] x6 (42)
R8: In back loops only, 42 sc (42)
Change to white
R9-10: 42 sc (2 rounds, 42)
Change to black
R11: [6 sc, 1 inc] x6 (48)

Turn the pot around so that you have the opening against you. Now you are going to crochet
in the back loops.
R23: In back loops only *1 tr in each st* continue to the end of the row.
Fold round 23 over the pot. Fasten all threads
Put your work on a piece of cardboard and cut out a piece thats the same size as the bottom.
Place the cardboard piece in the bottom of the pot. This will give more stability to your
cactus.

SOIL
With brown yarn
You are going to start crochet in the back loops of round 20 on the pot.

Start stuffing and continue doing it as the hole becomes smaller, stuff on top of the
cardboad piece, cause it suppose to be in the bottom to give the pot more stability

Close the hole with a seam by weaving it and fasten the thread

INFO
Make one pot with soil for each cactus.
On the following pages you will find the descriptions for each cactus.
The arms for the cactuses should not be stuffen, flatten them before you sew them on.
On page 8 you will find descriptions for cheeks and flowers.
You’ll find step by step pictures showing how to make the pot with soil and cactus no 1 on
pages 9-15.

Now it’s time to attach the safety eyes. Place them between rounds 13 and 14 with 6 sc
between (Pictures page 12) Embroid a black mouth, I used DMC embroidery thread.

Finish off with 1 sl. Leave a 20 cm long yarn tail for sewing.
Stuff the cactus, flatten it as you are stuffing.
Pin the cactus body on to the soil and sew it on, you can add some more stuffing as you sew
to make your cactus more firm. Weave in the ends.

The arms should not be stuffed, flatten them before you pin them to your cactus and sew
them on, one by one.

CHEEKS (make two for each cactus)

With pink yarn
Make a magic ring
R1: 6 sc into the magic ring (6)
sl in the first sc, fasten off leaving a 10 cm long tail for sewing.
Use a tapestry needle and sew the cheeks to the cactus.

FLOWERS
With yellow yarn
Make a magic ring
R1: 5 sc into the magic ring (5)
Change to pink yarn
R2: do the following in the same stitch 5 times [1 sl, 1 sc, 1 dc, 1 sc, 1 sl] x5
Finish with 1 sl. Weave in the ends. Cut the yarn but leave a long yarn tail for sewing
Sew the flowers on to the cactus

For cactus no 1: make 3 flowers

For cactus no 2: make 1 flower
For cactus no 3: make 2 flowers
