Engineering Visualization & Product Realization
➢ Engineering Visualization: The graphical (in the form of pictures)
representation of ideas and information related to an object or set of objects
or any other device or instrument or structures that we come across in
engineering.
➢Product realization means a clear idea of what the product will be, usually
expressed in drawings, statements of work, functional product specs, or their
equivalents
➢ Engineering Drawing is one of the fundamental subjects that deals with
graphical visualization of engineering object(s), system(s) and design(s).
➢Engineering Drawing is a type of technical drawing which is used to clearly
define the requirements for engineered items such as views, dimensions and
necessary information.
➢It is a graphical language that communicates ideas and information.

How is engineering drawing different from artistic
drawing?
Engineering drawing Artistic drawing
1. Necessary for the purpose of production/ manufacturing 1. Expression of the artists viewpoint

2. To scale 2. Not necessarily and mostly not to scale

3. With dimensions 3. No dimensions mentioned

4. Made using drafting tools or CAD like softwares 4. Made using artist tools or Photoshop like softwares

5. Should be technically correct 5. Freedom to be technically correct/ incorrect

6. Mostly made by engineers 6. Mostly made by artists

7. To the point, might not be aesthetically pleasing to eyes. 7. Purpose is to be aesthetically pleasing to eyes and
invoke emotions.
8. Meaning does not change according to the viewer.
8. Different viewers might perceive it differently
