BUSINESS CONCEPT

1.1 INTRODUCTION

Filipinos are known to be a good eater. We loved to eat whenever and where ever we want.
when it comes in food, we are always on the go. We eat to satisfy our cravings. We culturally
love eating carbohydrates such as rice and bread. As they say, we are easily tempted by food
of different tastes. It may be expensive or affordable, typical or erotic, and nutritious are not.
We are easily pleased no matter how the packaging looks like. We even spend time on
cooking on cooking our favourite meals for the family and even spare time in baking
delicacies that we want to eat if we have time or when we are at home. Indeed, foods are not
just a need for us, but as well as an interest. Nowadays, people find an alternative ways on
eating nutritious food. In our daily lives, we need to acquire the kind of nutrient that our body
need in order for us to do things and to execute our works everyday. There are many ways in
getting nutrients and vitamins. We may eat menus with vegetables and fruits, we may take
vitamins or whatever supplements that we want or simply drink a lot of water just to gain and
regain nutrients in our body.

There are a lot of vegetables out there with different colours, sizes, shapes ,taste
and nutrients but one veggie stands out. What it is? It is the famous and very nutrious
Malunggay. It is also known as Miracle tree forits every part, as the leaves, fruits, flowers,
roots, and bark of the tree can be used in many ways. It’s not only a medicine but as well as a
great sources of many nutrients such a Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Calcium,Protein, Potassium,
and also Amino acid and many more.

With the new technology and modernization, people also find ways to even
maximize the use of Malunggay. Many experimentation in food making was done using
malunggay leaves and other parts of it. One of the experiments in food making that they have
made was the introduction of Malunggay as a flavor of bread. It was mix with the typical
ingredients of bread and here we go, the new more nutrious and more savory bread was made
for cnsumers, especially for bread lovers.

consumer to gain nutrients in their daily needs.

The concept of our product is to help out consumer to have a healthy lifestyle as we

The business is offering healthy flakes crackers that good for kids, teenager, and even

adults. The product is good as snack for the student and employee during their work. This

flakes is different because it has a twist of malunggay powder that gives health benefits to the

consumer in its affordable price.

The proponents depend the pricing according to the serving of each ingredient among

every product. The proponents are getting a direct supplier of the dairy ingredient giving it on

a lower market price making our main ingredient at low cost. GREEN FLAKES

The location is located at Brgy. Poblacion Candelaria, Quezon at the back of Tayabas

Western Academy. This location is in the urban area of the town proper, whereas, most of the

establishments are near also such as schools and churches.

D. PROMOTION

We will start a promotional website or page to advertise out product; this is less cost

advertising compared to others. We also make tarpaulins and flyers to promote our product to

our dear consumers. It will be a tedious task in the beginning, but in this age of social media,

promoting our business and the product to the public keeping them informed of what we
offer will be a walk in the park. Publicity is easy as long as social media like Facebook exists

for free.

1.5 BUSINESS STRUCTURE

GREEN FLAKES BAKESHOPwould operate under sole proprietorship whereby it is

owned and controlled by one person. In sole proprietorship, the business can be established

instantly, easily and inexpensively. It can also start without legal formalities. With the

business structure, sole proprietorship, the proprietor is free to make all decisions and reap all

the fruits of his labor and has the advantage for easy dissolution if in such case. But on the

other hand, owner is subject to unlimited personal liability for the debts, losses and liabilities

of the business.

baking industry. This review also helps to the things and strategies that can be used to

In the Philippines, the industry of baking is continuously growing and for this
season, the proponents have come up with the decision to choose this kind of business.

in the growth of flakes and the baking industries in the Philippines. One important source

industry include: increasing through somewhat slower sales of bakery product in 2008,
continued importance of artisanal bakery items marketed through local baked shop and
sari-sari stores, single serve flakes and dessert that allow cost conscious consumers to
indulge in dessert item, more healthy product offering that capitalize on increased
awareness of the attributes of some products. The food service sector will likely continue
to expand.

According to MDA Staff Paper 2009 bakeshop sell the majority of baked goods,
estimated at about 52 percent market share, in the Philippines. These bakeshops are
characterized as single or few shop run independently with limited distribution and
market power. Marketing is through local bakeries and sari-sari store, which are small
convenience types stores important in rural regions of the country.

Malunggay ( Moringa Oleifera) is a popular plant known for high nutritional


value as well as an herbal medicine for a number of illness and other practical uses.

The Malunggay plant can grow to as high as 9 meters with erect white trunks.
The compound leaf has about 3 to 9 leaflets. Malunggay has white fragrant flowers that
produce long pods with 3 angled winged seeds.

Malunggay may be propagated by planting its seeds about an inch in the ground
or matured malunggay stem cutting of about 3 feet in length may also be planted into the
ground. Planted malunggay cuttings grow faster compared to planted seeds.

Some nutritional expert and scientist are even of the opinion that the moringa
plant is probably the most nutritious food plant ever studied or discover thus far. The
leaves of the Moringa were recently identified by the World Vegetable Centerin Taiwan
as the vegetable with the highest nutritional content among 120 types of food species
studied.

MALUNGGAY PLANTATION IN THE PHILIPPINES

 Malunggay Lifes farm is an 8.1 hectare (81,000 sq. m) farm situated in abarangay in
Narra, a first class municipality in the province of Palawan in the Philippinees, and
sits in a slightly undulating area. The farm has about 700 tto 1000 malunggay tress.

 Bcause malunggay is a very nutritious plant, the Department of Agriculture (DA)


urges farmers to increase its production so they could have a weapon against hunger
and malnutrition, especially in the rural areas. The Department’s of Bureau of
agricultural Research(BAR) has included malunggay in its indigenous plants for
health and wellness program and identified the development of malunggay as priority
project.
 The DA-Biotechnology Program Office has been promoting the backyard cultivation
o fmalunggay in Metro Manila to help address the prevent problem of malnutrition
among urban poor families.
 According to the Moringa Growers Association of the Philippines, Inc (MGAPI) the
CARAGA Moringa Farmers Association has 30,000 seedlings, Western Cebu
Moringa Farmers Associations 15,000 seedlings, Cam Sur Moringa Farmers
Association 60,000 seedlings, CVC Moringa Farmers Association 75,000 seedlings,
First Congressional Disttrict Malunggay Planters Association 30,000 seedlimgs,
Integrated Farmer’s Association for Malunggay Production of Camarines Norte
20,000 seedlings, Misamia Occidental, ZANorte Moringa Farmer’s Association
65,000 seedlings , and Nueva Moringa Planters Association 50,000 seedlings.
