FULLY. DOWNLOADING, INSTALLING OR USING A10 NETWORKS OR A10
NETWORKS PRODUCTS, OR SUPPLIED SOFTWARE CONSTITUTES ACCEP-
TANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT.

A10 NETWORKS IS WILLING TO LICENSE THE PRODUCT (AX Series) TO YOU

ONLY UPON THE CONDITION THAT YOU ACCEPT ALL OF THE TERMS CON-
TAINED IN THIS LICENSE AGREEMENT. BY DOWNLOADING OR INSTALLING
THE SOFTWARE, OR USING THE EQUIPMENT THAT CONTAINS THIS SOFT-
WARE, YOU ARE BINDING YOURSELF AND THE BUSINESS ENTITY THAT YOU
REPRESENT (COLLECTIVELY, "CUSTOMER") TO THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU

NETWORKS IS UNWILLING TO LICENSE THE SOFTWARE TO YOU AND DO
NOT DOWNLOAD, INSTALL OR USE THE PRODUCT.

The following terms of this End User License Agreement ("Agreement") govern Cus-
tomer's access and use of the Software, except to the extent there is a separate
signed agreement between Customer and A10 Networks governing Customer's use
of the Software

License. Conditioned upon compliance with the terms and conditions of this Agree-
ment, A10 Networks Inc. or its subsidiary licensing the Software instead of A10 Net-
works Inc. ("A10 Networks"), grants to Customer a nonexclusive and
nontransferable license to use for Customer's business purposes the Software and
the Documentation for which Customer has paid all required fees. "Documentation"
means written information (whether contained in user or technical manuals, training
materials, specifications or otherwise) specifically pertaining to the product or prod-
ucts and made available by A10 Networks in any manner (including on CD-Rom, or
on-line).

Unless otherwise expressly provided in the Documentation, Customer shall use the
Software solely as embedded in or for execution on A10 Networks equipment owned
or leased by Customer and used for Customer's business purposes.

General Limitations. This is a license, not a transfer of title, to the Software and
Documentation, and A10 Networks retains ownership of all copies of the Software
and Documentation. Customer acknowledges that the Software and Documentation
contain trade secrets of A10 Networks, its suppliers or licensors, including but not
limited to the specific internal design and structure of individual programs and asso-
ciated interface information. Accordingly, except as otherwise expressly provided

agrees not to:
a. transfer, assign or sublicense its license rights to any other person or entity,
or use the Software on unauthorized or secondhand A10 Networks equip-
ment
b. make error corrections to or otherwise modify or adapt the Software or cre-
ate derivative works based upon the Software, or permit third parties to do
the same

the Software to human readable form, except to the extent otherwise
expressly permitted under applicable law notwithstanding this restriction
d. disclose, provide, or otherwise make available trade secrets contained
within the Software and Documentation in any form to any third party with-
out the prior written consent of A10 Networks. Customer shall implement
reasonable security measures to protect such trade secrets.

Software, Upgrades and Additional Products or Copies. For purposes of this

Agreement, "Software" and “Products” shall include (and the terms and conditions of
this Agreement shall apply to) computer programs, including firmware and hard-
ware, as provided to Customer by A10 Networks or an authorized A10 Networks
reseller, and any upgrades, updates, bug fixes or modified versions thereto (collec-
tively, "Upgrades") or backup copies of the Software licensed or provided to Cus-
tomer by A10 Networks or an authorized A10 Networks reseller.

OTHER PROVISIONS OF THIS AGREEMENT:

a. CUSTOMER HAS NO LICENSE OR RIGHT TO USE ANY ADDITIONAL
COPIES OR UPGRADES UNLESS CUSTOMER, AT THE TIME OF
ACQUIRING SUCH COPY OR UPGRADE, ALREADY HOLDS A VALID
LICENSE TO THE ORIGINAL SOFTWARE AND HAS PAID THE APPLI-
CABLE FEE FOR THE UPGRADE OR ADDITIONAL COPIES
b. USE OF UPGRADES IS LIMITED TO A10 NETWORKS EQUIPMENT FOR
WHICH CUSTOMER IS THE ORIGINAL END USER PURCHASER OR
LEASEE OR WHO OTHERWISE HOLDS A VALID LICENSE TO USE THE
SOFTWARE WHICH IS BEING UPGRADED
c. THE MAKING AND USE OF ADDITIONAL COPIES IS LIMITED TO NEC-
ESSARY BACKUP PURPOSES ONLY.

Term and Termination. This Agreement and the license granted herein shall remain
effective until terminated. All confidentiality obligations of Customer and all limita-
tions of liability and disclaimers and restrictions of warranty shall survive termination
of this Agreement.

Export. Software and Documentation, including technical data, may be subject to

U.S. export control laws, including the U.S. Export Administration Act and its associ-
ated regulations, and may be subject to export or import regulations in other coun-

ware and Documentation.

Introduction

Introduction

This document describes the AX Series proprietary Management Informa-

tion Base (MIB). The AX MIB consists of the following groups:
• axSystem – Provides system-level information about the AX device,
such as the installed software versions, the serial number, and current
CPU utilization. See “AX MIB Objects: axSystem Group” on page 29.
• axLogging – Provides configuration information about system logging.
See “AX MIB Objects: axLogging Group” on page 23.
• axApp – Provides configuration and operational information for Server
Load Balancing (SLB). See “AX MIB Objects: axApp Group” on
page 49.

• For descriptions of the High Availability (HA) objects in axApp, see

“AX MIB Objects: High Availability Group” on page 127.
• For descriptions of the notification objects in axApp, see “AX MIB
Objects: axNotification” on page 131.

MIB Access
SNMP access to the AX device is read-only. You can use SNMP managers
to retrieve information using GET or GET NEXT requests. SET requests
are not supported.

SNMP RFCs Supported

The AX device supports the following SNMP-related RFCs:
• RFC 1157, A Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)

• RFC 1213, Management Information Base for Network Management of

TCP/IP-based internets: MIB-II
The sysService object returns a value that indicates the set of services
the AX device offers. For the AX device, the sysService object always
returns the following value: 76
This value indicates that the AX device offers the following services:
• datalink/subnetwork – 0x2
• internet – 0x4

Introduction

AX MIB Files
The AX MIB consists of the following files:
• A10-COMMON-MIB.txt – Contains common MIB definitions for
A10 Networks, including the A10 enterprise object identifier (OID) and
the OIDs for all A10 products.
• A10-AX-MIB.txt – AX device MIB definitions, including the AX
SNMP notification node.
• A10-AX-NOTIFICATIONS-V2C.txt – SNMPv2c trap definitions for
the AX device.
• A10-AX-TRAPS-V1.txt – SNMPv1 trap definitions for the AX device.

The first two files are required. Depending on your SNMP version (v1 or
v2c), use one or the other of the last two files.
• If you are using an SNMPv2c manager, use the following MIB files:
• A10-COMMON-MIB.txt
• A10-AX-MIB.txt
• A10-AX-NOTIFICATIONS-V2C.txt

• If you are using an SNMPv1 manager, use the following MIB files:
• A10-COMMON-MIB.txt
• A10-AX-MIB.txt
• A10-AX-TRAPS-V1.txt

Statistics for Individual System Partitions

This chapter describes the AX MIB support for network and application
objects in individual Role-based Administration (RBA) partitions.

Note: RBA is also called “Application Delivery Partitioning (ADP)”. The Layer
2/3 virtualization functionality that you can enable on individual parti-
tions is sometimes called “L3V”.

Querying Objects for a Partition

To query MIB objects for a specific partition, append the partition name to
the community name (SNMPv1 or v2c) or user name (SNMPv3).
• SNMPv1 / v2c – Send queries for the following:
community-name@partition-name
• SNMPv3 – Send queries for the following:
user-name@partition-name

If the partition name contains a blank space, use quotation marks:

community-name@”partition-name” or
user-name@”partition-name”

Query Options for Partition Objects

For each of these object types, you can query for either of the following val-
ues:
• Counter value for a specific partition only – In this case, the partition
name must be included in the the query. The partition name can be
“shared” or the name of a private partition.
• Aggregate value of the counter for all partitions combined – The aggre-
gate value includes the counters for the shared partition and for all pri-
vate partitions.

Note: Queries for a specific private partition apply only to partitions in which
Layer 2/3 virtualization is enabled. For partitions in which Layer 2/3 vir-
tualization is not enabled, the statistics are included in the shared partition
statistics.

For example, these query options are supported for the following network
objects:
• axTrunkTotal

• axTrunkTable

• axTrunkStatTable

• axTrunkCfgMemberTable

As another example, these query options are supported for the following
application objects, which provide connection counters:
• axAppGlobalTotalCurrentConnections

• axAppGlobalTotalNewConnections

• axAppGlobalTotalNewL4Connections

• axAppGlobalTotalNewL7Connections

• axAppGlobalTotalNewIPNatConnections

Notes
• The “@” character is not supported in community strings or SNMPv3
usernames.
• If the specified partition is not configured on the AX device, queries for
partition-aware objects are rejected. However, queries for other objects
are still accepted.

Partition-aware SLB Notifications

SLB notifications for an SLB resource that belongs to a private partition
include the partition name. This applies to the following SLB notification
objects:
• axServiceDown

• axServiceUp

• axServerDown

• axServerUp

• axServerConnLimit

• axServiceConnRateLimit

• axVirtualServerPortReachConnLimit

• axVirtualServerPortReachConnRateLimit

• axVirtualServerReachConnLimit

• axVirtualServerReachConnRateLimit

• axServiceGroupMemberDisabledForNewConn

• axServiceGroupMemberEnabledForNewConn

For any of these notification objects, if the resource belongs to a private par-
tition, the axNotificationPartitionName object is included in the notifica-
tion.

Example
For example, if a real server (s1, 10.10.1.1) that belongs to the shared parti-
tion goes down, the values for the following objects are included in the noti-
fication:
• axNotificationMsg – “Server s1 (10.10.1.99) is down.”

• axNotificationSLBServer – “10.10.1.1”

If a real server (s99, 10.10.1.99) that belongs to a private partition (part1)

goes down, the values for the following objects are included in the notifica-
tion:
• axNotificationMsg – “Server “part1”:s1 (10.10.1.1) is down.”

• axNotificationSLBServer – “10.10.1.99”

• axNotificationPartitionName – “part1”

Partition Awareness for Centralized Management

Applications
Partition awareness includes support for centralized management applica-
tions such as HP OpenView Network Node Manager and CA eHealth Per-
formance Manager. These applications do not support appending the
partition name to the community or user name when sending queries, which
is required for partition awareness.

Partition awareness requires the partition name to be appended to the com-

munity or user name, in the following formats:
• SNMPv1 / v2c – Send queries for the following:
community-name@partition-name
• SNMPv3 – Send queries for the following:
user-name@partition-name

Partition awareness is also supported for management applications that do

not support this syntax.

Interface Objects
The partition name is included as part of the ifDescr value in entries in the
following tables:
• ifTable

• ifXTable

• ifNumber

Example:
The ifNumber is the total of physical and VE interfaces across all partitions.

The ifTable/ifXTable aggregates table entries across all partition with differ-
ent ifIndex values and ifDescr is defined as follows:

Example:
In axVirtualServerPortTable, the table name index, axVirtualServerPort-
Name, will be converted as:
• <object_name> – for shared partition object names

• “part1”:<object_name> – for “part1” private partition object names

The partition name is not included in the table name for the following statis-
tics tables. However, the private partition name is included in the table
address index.
• axServerStatTable

• axServerPortStatTable

• axVirtualServerStatTable

• axVirtualServerPortStatTable

Example:
In axVirtualServerStatTable, the address axVirtualServerStatAddress will
be converted as:
• <object_ip_address> – for shared partition object names

• “part1”:<object_ip_address> – for “part1” partition object names

VE Interface Link Down/Up Traps

The physical interfaces are AX global-based resources, and can be assigned
to a specific application partition. However, management of interface
enable/disable is restricted to the default partition. The link down/up traps
are not per partition.
The VE interface up/down traps are required to send out the link down/up
traps. The VE trap is partition-based, and it has the partition information:
ifIndex is defined with the partition ID.
