Bharat Ratna Awards to Nanaji Deshmukh (posthumously), Bhupendra Kumar Hazarika (posthumously) and
Pranab Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
• Nanaji Deshmukh, Bhupen Hazarika were conferred the award posthumously.
• The Bharat Ratna has been conferred after a gap of four years.
• Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and founder of Banaras Hindu University Madan Mohan
Malviya were given the award by the government in 2015.
Longest documentary “100 Years of Chrysostum” will receive Guinness Award – A biographical documentary
“100 Years of Chrysostum” will receive Guinness Award in the category of longest documentary.
ISRO Chairman K. Sivan honoured with A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award – Tamil Nadu government has
awarded K. Sivan with its Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award.
• K. Sivan is currently serving as the chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation.

• Cleanest big city - Ahmedabad has been named the cleanest big city with a population of more than ten lakh.
• Cleanest medium city - Ujjain has been awarded cleanest medium city having a population between 3 lakh to
10 lakh.
• Cleanest Small city - New Delhi Municipal Council area was given the “Cleanest Small City” award.
• Best Ganga Town - Uttarakhand’s Gauchar was adjudged the “Best Ganga Town”.
Cleanest capital - Bhopal has been named the cleanest capital.
Fastest Moving big city - Raipur won the ‘Fastest Moving Big City’.

Pritzker Prize 2019 - Japanese Architect Arata Isozaki has received the Pritzker Prize 2019.
Padma Awards 2019 • The government on 25th January 2019 announced names of the Padma awardees 2019
on the eve of the 70th Republic Day. This year 112 recipients have been selected for the prestigious awards.
This includes 4 Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan and 94 Padma Shri awards.
