Requirements
 A manual that includes additional requirements of GM for IATF 16949,
 This document can refer to additional GM Global Procedures and Instructions that
must also be implemented into the LF QMS.

Global Supplier Quality Manual

 Divided in APQP and Current Process


 The APQP section defines GM’s global product quality planning requirements
to develop and implement an APQP process.
 The Current section defines the standardized work around processes to
protect GM plants.

BIQS (Quality Performance Requirements and Quality
Management Assessment)
Built In Quality Supply based (BIQS) is an advanced level of implementation of a robust
Manufacturing System that helps to achieve not only key business results, but First Time Quality as
well. Is aligned with GM Global Manufacturing System (GMS) , IATF16949 standard and with
Customer Specific Requirements (CSR), BIQS is formed by two elements:

Supplier must comply with an annual Assessment: an assessment consisting
criteria released by GM for Quality of 30 elements of the GM manufacturing
Performance; this is given in BIQS Levels system. Actually, there's no minimum
where the minimum requirement is BIQS score to approve and is used as part of
level 3 GM CSR

GM CSR 9.1.2.1 Customer Satisfaction

Organizations shall achieve and maintain BIQS Level of 3, 4 or 5. The organization whose BIQS Level falls below
Level 3 shall notify its Certification Body within 5 business days after falling below the stated requirement. The
Certification Body shall issue a major non-conformance against IATF 16949:2016, clause 9.1.2.1, when they
are notified (or discover) the organization is at a BIQS Level 1 or 2.
NOTE 1: Two conditions where a major non-conformance is not required for BIQS level < 3 are:
- BIQS Level 0 – With no production receipts nor any quality SPPS records in the last 12 months; or
- Not yet nor previously certified to IATF 16949
NOTE 2: The GM system Sourceability Report will indicate a BIQS Level of 1 or 2 for those organizations not
meeting the BIQS requirements.
If the organization failed to notify their Certification Body, the Certification Body shall also issue a minor non-
conformance against IATF 16949:2016, clause 9.1.2.1.
The Certification Body must conduct an on-site special audit per the IATF Rules to close out the non-
conformance.
