DARTH VADER blankie

By Tirza Haasnoot, The Purple Lady

DARTH VADER blankie
Difficulty: ****
This blankie was inspired by the ‘Princess Leia Blankie’ by Stuff
Susie Made
(http://stuffsusiemade.blogspot.sg/2015/01/princess-leia-
blankie-free-crochet.html).
The blankie itself and the arms are to be made from that
pattern, as the copyright lies with Susie.
You can of course replace this blankie with another pattern’s,
like a simple granny square or another square or star.
This pattern is just the pattern for Darth Vaders head, to go with
Susie’s pattern.

Materials:
- Black cotton (about 1 skein)
- 2.5mm hook
- Light grey embroidery thread
- Fiberfill
- Darning needle
- Scissors
The sizes of the yarn and hook can of course be changed as
deemed fit to make bigger or smaller Darth Vaders.

Used stitches:
- Magic Ring
- Chain (ch)
- Single crochet (sc)
- Single crochet decrease (sc2tog)
- Half double crochet (hdc)
- Double crochet (dc)

T11. Turn, ch3, 17dc. (18dc total)
Crochet 1sc along the side stitches on the flap of the helmet. Slip stitch, and yarn off. Yarn on in the tip of
the other flap, and sc along the side stitches here as well. Yarn off leaving a long tail of at least 30cm,
and use this thread to stitch the sides and top of the helmet to make them stand up.
Use the long tail to sew the helmet on the head, and use this tail to then sew it to the blankie.
Embroider a triangle with 3 lines in it for the mouth of Darth Vader. I used two split threads.
Sew the arms to the blankie.
Tada! You just finished this darth blankie!
