Here are the top tips which you need to
remember while solving situational
questions in the PMP exam

Read each line of the question very carefully. Important

pieces of information are often camouflaged within the
question body within seeming irrelevant datapoints.
Hence, don’t skim through a question in a hurry to look
for the correct option

Check the last line of the question body very carefully.

This will set the tune of the question

Read every option very thoroughly and always have a

very solid reason to reject an option. Don’t reject any
option straightaway just because it does not ‘feel right’
or ‘seem right to me’ or ‘it’s not done like that in my
company while doing projects’

Always analyze each option in the light of PMBOK Ed.6.

Don’t bring your own judgement or the way projects are
done in your company while accepting/rejecting an
option

Memorize the sequence of steps from PMBOK Ed. 6 Pg.

Answers with explanations

Question 1:

Correct Answer: C (Project Charter)

A: Incorrect because as per Table 1.5 Business case is a

documented economic feasibility study. It does not
delineate any guideline, governance or assumptions.

B. Incorrect because risk register is not generated

during the ‘initiation’ stage of the project. This is why it
is important to read the questions carefully

D: Incorrect because SOW is a part of procurements

and hence is not related to the context of the question

Question 2:

Correct Answer: D (Have your customer inspect the

deliverables for correctness)

A. Incorrect because you cannot enter the closure

phase without your customer accepting the
deliverables
B. Incorrect because for the same reason as A, you
cannot perform this step
C. Irrelevant to the context of the question
