Analyzer Software
Analyzer Software
Analyzer software consists of a storage-system provider and a user
interface (UI) for managing the Analyzer functionality, including the
archives, and a command line interface (CLI) for managing the
archives.
Analyzer Provider To use Analyzer with a CX-Series storage system, the Analyzer
provider must be enabled on the storage system. The provider is
enabled when the Analyzer Enabler, which is part of the Analyzer kit,
is installed on the storage system. If you ordered Analyzer with a
new CX-Series storage system, you or your service provider installs
the Analyzer Enabler during storage-system initialization.
Once the provider is enabled, it stays enabled even if you upgrade the
FLARE™ Operating Environment software on the storage system.
Once the UIs are enabled, they stay enabled even if you upgrade the FLARE
Operating Environment software on the storage system.
Analyzer CLI Analyzer CLI is part of the Navisphere CLI, which ships with the
Navisphere Host Agent kits.
EMC Navisphere Analyzer Accessories v02.xx .exe File for Optional Windows Host Microsoft Windows Server™
P/N 053-001-227 • Windows_AnalyzerProvider_6.w.x.y.z.exe 2003, Windows® 2000,
Windows XP, or Windows
Note: This executable is optional and should be NT® server
installed only if you have storage systems
without the Storage Management Server
software installed; you want to manage these
systems using Navisphere Manager; and you
want to analyze the performance of these
storage systems with Analyzer.
This file also requires that the following files from
the Navisphere Manager Accessories v02.xx CD
(P/N 053-001-223) be installed on the host:
• Windows_ManagementServer_6.w.x.y.z.exe
• Windows_UIs_6.w.x.y.z.exe
Files installed as part of the Windows server
installation are protected by ACLs (under NTFS).
ACLs are not supported on FAT file systems, so
the files that normally would be protected under
NTFS are not protected.
Installation
IMPORTANT - When you install new software on a storage system,
do not remove or reboot an SP while installation is in progress. Doing
so may leave the storage system in a transient state where it cannot be
restarted. Wait for the entire upgrade process to complete and
automatically reboot the SPs.
Installation Prerequisites
EMC Navisphere® Manager must be enabled on the SPs in at least
one storage system in the Navisphere domain containing the storage
systems that will participate in the same mirror. (For information on
Navisphere domains, see the EMC Navisphere Security Administrator’s
Guide on the documentation CD.)
Documentation CD
In addition to this document, the following document is available on
the EMC CX-Series Hardware and Software Documentation CD
(P/N 053-001-228), which ships with the storage system:
